I have deep cleaned the boys room today, and made a start on the living/play room. Totally ruthless, 4 black bags for the bin so far, and three black bags of toys that I dropped off at a friends house for her little girl. Last day of just DS2 as the school holidyas start today - and when they go back he will be going too. Sniff, sniff.

Good luck MrsV! We moved 18 months ago, never would have happened if I hadn't joined this thread.

October half term - I have found flights to lisbon £60 each, farmhouse on the coast £280, car hire £140 - same money and time would get the bathroom done, and i cant do both. Which to do  ? We havent been abroad since I was pregnant with DS2 4 years ago. Better get some passport forms then......:o

He's a lovely little man. Actually to get him to this stage where he is settled is quite an achievement. He's in year 4 and always hated school before. He didn't even like this teacher particularly at the start - she can take a dislike to some children and make it obvious, and he's described her as "mean" before now. Mind you I'm often "mean" too according to him!:rotfl:She's teaching year 1 next year so I hope she is better disposed to the little ones than to the slightly older ones.

I only hope that by the time he gets to the end of year 6 the grades in his assessments don't have more value than they should for placing him in grades in high school. We don't have the national SATS here, just tests which the teacher gives them.

See.. and now he is feeling happier about going to school and building his confidence in his own ability he will thrive!!

Maybe the tests the teacher set were of a higher level than she is teaching? It might well be everyone else in the class has found these tests hard.. which is the one place SATs are useful they are set questions and ALL the children do them showing how well the teacher has taught them and how much knowledge they have retained.

Making sure he is happy and settled is much more important than knowing what trivia has been crammed in his head.

I am certain he will do marvellously well in his tests in year 6.
