    A few thoughts here. I travel very often from Tyneside to enjoy London as a tourist.

    1. Travel with an oystercard ... This is always cheaper than anything else. OK the £3 initial charge is down the drain, but it lasts for life. No big deal.

    2. For shows....... check out lastminute.com great value on £20 deals for a show and a meal.

    3. For accomodation travelodge (I am a great fan) but book yonks in advance or check Ebay for unwanted nights or easyhotel (spartan but clean).

    4. Don't even think about taking a car to London. It is a liability. Use trainline or megabus coupled with oyster and London is your lobster!

    5. Go to Dalston market......a rattlin' good experience.

    Give it some welly and enjoy the time there.

    No. I never got a zone 1&2 card as I didn't know what zones I would be in.

    I have found a few more good ideas, westy needs some good advice too, so please keep the ideas flowing :T

    some good deals using Tesco deals, maybe I could sacrifice a few for a bus/boat tour
