What with the price of everything going up lately, here's a word of IMPORTANT advice for anybody who occasionally travels into/out of London Victoria station: the loo now costs 30p  Best be warned in advance about this rather than find out the way I did last night, having legged it all the way across the station concourse after spending half an hour in extreme discomfort on a train with no loo... now indescribably desperate and on the point of having an accident... only to find that the 20p I make sure I sensibly keep in the back of my purse for such occasions is no longer enough to open the turnstile _pale_ _pale_ Some people were getting in by vaulting the turnstiles but that would have involved uncrossing my legs which wasn't an option at this stage :eek:Fortunately after some frantic rummaging in my handbag I found the £1 coin that I keep there for the supermarket trolley/gym locker... put it in one of the change machines and it fell straight out again... aaaargh... put it in the other change machine and SUCCESS, thank goodness... actually had to pay 40p of course as I now had a handful of 20p pieces, but hey MSE was not the upmost thing on my mind
and made a run for it (actually more like a very awkward hobble) down the stairs to the Ladies where fortunately there was no queue and I made it in the nick of time
oh the relief! Moral of the story: HAVE 30p ON YOU AT ALL TIMES WHEN TRAVELLING THROUGH LONDON STATIONS!
Now I think about it, it's gone up to 30p at Waterloo too - but I'm sure Victoria was still 20p the last time I was there.
Right, need to get moving and do some work... back later
Love Rzl xx
Bargain - one of the best pieces of advice I was EVER given was 'go to the loo whenever the opportunity arises, even if you don't think you need to!' Has stood me in good stead for years! I have been in that position before, though, and it's had me in tears! I always think it's weird that, when you are busting to 'go', it's the only thing on your mind; once you've 'been', it's the last thing you think about!
Well, I am almost packed and the house is nice and tidy and will stay that way until I come back on Sunday because there's no-one else here. I've done my last bit of ironing and ticked a load off the 'to-do' list, popped out to post a letter, popped into the charity shop that has opened just up the road and bought some gorgeous Faith shoes, brand new, for £2.50, which I'm now 'breaking in' because I'm taking them away with me. They really are gorgeous - my 'find' of the year so far. I also bought a couple of belts and a white shirt so it was worth a visit. I shouldn't really have spent the money but, I'm feeling girly and single and that's what single girls do, isn't it?
Oh, well, off to have some lunch.

Good to hear from you, Pink - the Loire valley is just about one of the loveliest parts of France, I think. Have a great time! What a lovely surprise from PenPen!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning again,
Just nipped up to MR T, needed to get my DD some painkillers and aftersun, ( she is flopped out on sofa boiling hot to touch and not right at all ) any way I saw my bosses mum in there  , bet she will be straight on the phone to my boss, is it wrong that I was in MR T ? and why do I feel so guilty ?
RedRuby - don't feel guilty about being seen in Mr T's; you still have to eat. It might be worth taking your DD to the doctor, or even ask the local pharmacist for advice, if she's 'not right'. Sunburn is really nasty especially if her head was uncovered, too. It can make you quite ill. My DH had it at as a child. (His parents had no idea how to 'parent'; they used to let him swim in a local river at 4 years old without supervision:eek: ). He's never forgotten how ill he was after being allowed to play in the sun all day. I'm glad the aloe vera is helping; that was excellent advice.

Afternoon all
Done it again and not posted here for ages
'Tis a lovely sunny day here at Duxford today, I hope the weather holds for tomorrow, as we are off to Whipsnade Zoo for a big family picnic, along with OH's parents, brother and sister and their partners, aunt, cousins and partners, plus the youngest member of that side of the family, who has not long turned 1. Tonight OH and I will be making a bacon and tomato quiche and a large quantity of sausage rolls to take - he rolls out the pastry, I do the restHave also got a couple of bags of tortilla chips (we love Tesco's Chilli tortilla chips, especially with a bottle of wine watching Doctor Who on a Saturday night), some sesame seed breadsticks, and a bottle of ginger beer to take. Must dig out all my Sainsburys plastic tumblers and wine glasses to take, along with paper napkins and wet wipes.
We are staying overnight at OH's parents' tomorrow, so will have to watch the final episode of Doctor Who when it is repeated on BBC3 on Sunday night. OH's family do not appreciate DW, and I just KNOW I will bawl my eyes out whatever happens in the episode (and if the Doctor and Rose don't have a proper snog I will be seriously narked)
Hopefully OH will perk up with a visit to his family. He went for a job interview yesterday which had been arranged by a recruitment agency, only to arrive to find that the company had moved 25 miles away three years ago!!! It seems that the company had used the agency before, but the agency had not updated the company's contact details!!! It's a shame as the old office was in the village next to ours, so OH would no longer have had to travel into Cambridge each day for work. With only one car between us, the location of the new office is just not workable for us, and we really do not want a second car (particularly with the price of petrol as it is!) Agency was EXTREMELY apologetic - the lady responsible has otherwise been really good - she said she would understand if OH didn't want to use that agency again, but OH said we all make mistakes, and asked her to keep looking for him
Right, back to work!

Bargain Rzl 30p worth every penny, O you made me laugh....then I realised I need to GO and NOW :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Redruby Aloe Vera is very good advice, it cools sunburn down a treat, just keep putting it on. It works on some burns as well, I remember scalding my hand one christmas day straining the vegs, I used after sun containing aloe vera and wrapped a cooler block in kitchen towel and held it all afternoon changing it when it melted for another one, still hurt but no skin peeled off, and it cleared up in no time, I was amazed.:D
Kathy have a lovely time  "chillin out with the girls" we want to hear all about it when you come back:cool:
Well, I went outside to put the washing out and it took me 2hours....yeah it did.....had a feelin it would, I always get side-tracked when I go out there, always something that needs doing, not that I like it all standing to attention, I dont but I do like it fairly tidy.
I ended yankin a few weeds out, choppin a few bushes down a bit so they will flower again later on, and sweepin down the path then all round OH`s project, an old MG he is supposed to be rebuilding, its taken about 10yrs now, I keep telling him to call the scrapman in...NOT a good idea...ah well it keeps him quiet.
I now have 2 full green bags and 1 almost full for the bin men next week.
So all in all I am pleased with today. My friend just rang and she asked me to go with her and her little DGS to the new centre being opened today, its got bouncy castle, balloons, sweets all that sort of stuff, the little one will love it.
Better go get ready

I always think it's weird that, when you are busting to 'go', it's the only thing on your mind; once you've 'been', it's the last thing you think about!
(and it would have been free, too
) But having been in fairly dire straits for half an hour, when I stood up to get off the train it went from "I really really need the loo and am very uncomfortable" to "Heeeeelllp, I need to go NOW" (partly the effect of gravity, and partly, no doubt, the psychological effect of knowing that I was at last within a 1-minute dash of the Ladies, or so I thought!)
And not only do they hold the train doors closed for 30 seconds after the train stops at the platform (picture me dancing a jig here) - but I was also really near the back of the train so I had a long way to run from there to the station loos! I'd been soooo sensible and got my "emergency 20p" ready in my coat pocket a while beforehand, so I didn't have to waste valuable time rummaging for it at the turnstile, so when I got there and found it was now 30p and I knew there was NO more change in my purse, I nearly lost it there and then  and yes, it did bring tears to my eyes! And I think you'll agree that trying to think laterally to come up with a solution is not the easiest thing to do when your ENTIRE brain is occupied with the thought "must... not... wet... myself..."If I hadn't found my pound coin in the bottom of my handbag my only choice would have been to beg passers-by for 10p and hope somebody took pity on me within about 5 seconds
Anyway, I just about made it with my bladder and dignity intact, but I really hope I never find myself in that situation againOperation Get in Shape

he went through a spate of complainig to the council about various things I started getting phone call's from the council questioning me further and I didn't know what they were on about it turned out he was putting my name and contact details on the letters, sometimes instead of his own
the other thing he has done in the past month is write to the council saying that a lady who moved in a couple of door's down in November was sub-letting her council house to illegal immigrants
the thing with him is he's good at complaining officially about anyone but if it happens to him he dosen't like it
Kathy have a good weekend
