Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone
I have been sitting patiently waiting for donny gal or n9eav to start the thread but I noticed that there little lights arent on. So here goes.
Well, its Friday and I'm glad. W**k today and again it will be a busy one. Still, I would much rather be busy than sitting twiddling my thumbs all day.
I got my cheque yesterday from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme following the collapse of my local credit union. Once that has cleared, I will be using some of it to pay off my credit card and I will be debt free (with the exception of my mortgage
) :j Couldn't happen at a better time as it is only two weeks from today that we go on holiday.
(((hugs))) to those who need one.
anniestar hope yesterday went well. ((hugs))
Well, I need to go and take the chicken out of the freezer. Will do a stir-fry tonight, I think.
I recorded House and Grey's Anatomy last night so we will all watch those tonight while DS and DD scoff jelly babies.
Have a fabulous Friday everyone. xx

Morning ( I was on, but doing some survey e-mail) Made £30 this year so far in vouchers which go in my Christmas pot)
It's July 4th. Which will no doubt be celebrated by some here. My daughter was born there when we were students, so we will be doing a little US cooking tonight.
Fried catfish (pollack, don't have catfish)
Fried chicken
Hush puppies
Coleslaw
American beans
Strawberry shortcake and Key lime pie..... Hopefull if I have time.
It looks to be rain all day, so won't feel I should be out doing somthing.
Managed loads of work on the property yesterday. Moved several tons of granite and today my arms and back feel like jelly. Had a nice fire and got rid of the branches etc. So it's looking better.
Well folks have a nice day.... Back to work tomorrow:undecided Actually looking forward to the rest.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Hi Annie - congratulations on being able to use your compensation to pay things off. Well done!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, AnnieS, Jayward, Candygirl and her Dad, Mrs Mix, Beth and her DBs - I know there are others but my brain is not functioning on all four cylinders at the moment, so (((hugs))) to all those I've forgotten.
Well, the sun is peeking through the tree tops and it looks quite promising out there. Today is the start of the 'hen' weekend so I have to finish my packing and be ready for collection at 3.30pm. I hope I don't doze off in the car on the way to Devon; when I'm being driven anywhere, I tend to doze off within five minutes of setting off! DH is used to it but I don't want to do it in a car full of girlies, highlighting the fact that I'm the oldest!
I have some washing to do, a bit of last-minute ironing, a toasted sandwich to try in my new Remoska, some more paperwork that I don't want to have to come home to, a letter to write that needs posting today and I want to give the house a quick going-over with the hoover.
Last night, I had every intention of having an early night but I decided to watch Question Time and dozed off on the sofa for an hour instead! Luckily, I still got to sleep OK.
I think I'll go and check the weather forecast for Devon now and then have a shower.
See you all later. Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Devon????? What's there to do in Devon? You are short about 50 miles. Cornwall is where you should be!:beer:NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Ok, I'll ask. n9eav Hush Puppies? I'm assuming you don't mean the brown leather shoes that we are used to in the UK?:D
Just googled them - don't know if I like the sound of them or not!"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

morning all
hope everyone is well and happy, but hugs to those who need them anyway.
after everything last week i seem to have lost the ring oh gave me - i took it off after one of the evenings when he was a monster and ended our relationship.......i deleted all ID's off the computer and his phone #'s too. when he came back begging forgiveness etc, i thought i'd put it back on but i obviously didn't and now i can't find it. my head was all over the place last week so i have no idea what i have done with it......it's not in any of the usual places i would put something small and precious. it's not of any great monetry value, but sentimental, he had our names engraved inside and the date we met.
anyway - friday again thank goodness. still feel like i've been rung out emotionally, and althought things are better i think it's still going to take time to recover. nice weekend planned - going out with a friend tonight and then for a family lunch on sunday. can't wait until the end of term now - just need to sleeeeeeeeep!!!!!!
have a good day and see you all later,
PO xx

Morning all,
sunny here at the moment, must get some washing on. Need to finish typing my letters for the office first. Dishwasher door will not close properly - it was fine yesterday morning, and last night youngest DD went to shut it & it just won't "click"Just seems to be one thing after another breaking/stopping working... Will ask little bro to see if he can sort it.
((((((hugs)))))) to all those needing, sorry not to mention by name but brain is not quite up & running yet.
AnnieBL, that will be a lovely feeling once you have paid things
N9eav, sounds like you are still being very industrious - and supper tonight sounds interesting!
Kyle, yours are finishing early? I've got 2 more weeks of mine at school - having said that oldest has been around the past 3 weeks or so, now she has finished her GCSE's.
Will catch up later when I'm a bit more with it....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Good Morning All
Hope you find the ring Popposcar
(((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.
Lovely sunshine here at the moment, hopefully it will stay dry today, will aim to empty the washing basket.
DD's hospital appointment went well yesterday we are going to monitor things and need to go back in November, only downside was got to Liverpool Street and found all the tubes shut so had to pay £14 for a taxi - only go London once in a while and everytime there is something wrong with either the trains or the tube. Went to Oxford Street after which I have to say was horrible - very overcrowded and the shops arent that great but we were limited because of the tube problems.
Back in the office this morning then probably ironing this afternoon.
Enjoy your American dinner N9eav.

have a happy 4th of Julyx x x0
