i have never read such a load of bunkum in my life, sad thing is people will think that its correct and say they are doing atkins and wondering why they arent losing

ugghhh i thought journalists were supposed to research!!!
The article repeats the myth Demand dropped after founder Dr Robert Atkins died in a fall in 2003, at 72.

A report showed he had heart disease and was clinically obese.

Here is an article clarifying the events surrounding his death.
Did the Atkins Diet Really Kill Dr. Atkins?

Science, not scare-mongering, should be dominating the low-carbohydrate versus low-fat diet debate.

Had breakfast and now having some tea while I wait for DD to come downstairs.

Decided to use up the fresh cabbage and have some chicken later but will make sweet potato cakes for DDs later.

Miserable day here and raining heavily so glad I do not have to go out for anything.

FINALLY, the revamped Atkins diet lets you eat bread | Mail Online

ugghhh i thought journalists were supposed to research!!! and this would be the same daily mail who sold thousands of extra copies when it gave away fee pamphlets on atkins when it was all the rage a few years ago

I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I work in the realm of journalism. Some journalists (not all) are lazy and unfortunately, alot of the time, it is far easier just to trot out stuff written previously by other journalists rather than take the time to do you own original research. Which means errors and inaccuracies just get recycled:rolleyes:

Sadly, as you say shykins, many people reading these articles will take them on blind faith. "It's in the paper so it must be true." It is never easy communicating complex nutritional science to a lay audience, especially within a tight word limit, but that does not mean it can't be done. To be honest with you, this is actually something I feel very strongly about. People in the media, especially when it comes to the subject of public health, have a responsibility to convey the facts. But, as I read Gary Taubes' The Diet Delusion, it is clear that the low fat/hi carb message that became the official government line in the 70s and 80s came about in pretty much the same way. Political expedience circumventing scientific method.

Anyway, ahem.... enough of that! I'll get off my soapbox now:rolleyes::o :rotfl:

Yay, thank god it's Friday :j We've got rain here in London too, Elona. It's feels really wintry. I was defiitely born to live in warmer climes...

Had some lovely pork steaks last night which we marinaded in fresh ginger, garlic chilli and Japanese soy. With some purple-sprouting broccoli and pak choi. Raspberries and cream for dessert.:D

Tonight is curry night! Woo-hoo :j I blame you lot for all that talk about curry a few posts back;). Mr badger was incredibly organised last night and has already prepared our grated cauli rice to go with it! How good is that?!

Have a good day everyone

    Much love to all,

Mirry hun, please don't beat your selfup xx I'd think of it as just a little slip. It hasn't undone all the good work you've done and you can get back on track again without any real harm done, I would think. We are only human - I've slipped up far more than that:)

thanks , I feel totally disgusted in myself now , so will just carry on like it never happened , I think I was stressed out and thats why I did it  .

Maybe I should pop into M&S and take a look in the mirrors there , that should sort me out :o .

  • Like Sazbo says it's not the end of the world as far as your diet is concerned.
We've all done daft things. Why I find it hard to drink only one glass of wine rather than the whole bottle always perplexes me, you'd think I'd learn from experience.
Anyway there are worse things that a packet of crisps see
