I checked the salt content on the pork scratchings packet and it is 0.5g per packet, I thought as did you that this would be higher.
I have a low carb moral dilemma I would like your help and advice with...
I started this diet 21/07/08 and have not eaten 1 item that I shouldn't have, not one! I am going to a leaving do on Friday after work where I will be drinking (a lot!) for the 1st time in 6 weeks. We will be going for a curry after and here's the dilemma, do I just eat a chicken tikka with salad or go for it and have the full works as I would usually? I know that at some point I have to eat something with high carbs in it, I worry that on Saturday I will be in the frame of mind and think "well I may as well have the weekend off" and get a Chinese in, and then I'll be taking the week off the diet and then the month and before I know it I will disgusted with myself and eating chocolate/crisps/chips to compensate for feeling low.
I really want to go out on Friday and enjoy myself as I have been living like a monk. What should I do? What would all you good people do?

Have a good night out and have few drinks and eat what you like.
The next day have a day of intermittent fasting. when you just have some tomato or vegetable juice for breakfast and midday and an normal evening meal.
I found that doing this when it was inconvienent to eat my normal low carb fare worked fine.
This is what Dr D has to say on the subject

Eating out or going to a party should not be a problem. Just avoid the part of the meal heavy in carbohydrate and do not overeat. Forget the old adage "eat what you take"

If you fall for the temptation to eat something high in carbohydrate, you will automatically get a feeling of hunger, craving, after about an hour when the high blood sugar level begins to sink.

Just take a lowcarbohydrate snack until blood sugar and insulin levels have returned to normal. Then you can continue as before. Nothing worse has happened than a slight slowing down of the weight loss process.

Sazzy I know what you mean about wanting hot foods because I've been craving them for days but keep forgetting to get stuff out of the freezer  .So I ended up with yet another salad:mad: .I used the oopsies as a burger bun and they worked great

Tonight was different as I had to take stuff out of the freezer last night to get my daughters party food in.So it was pork chops topped with apples and cheese served with cauli and runner beans. It was delish:D

Jscalow I went out last weekend and stuck to voddie and diet coke so no carbs and then had donner meat and a little salad for my supper. Not exactly totally low carbing but hey I didnt put any weight on the next day so it cant have been that bad and like Ted said I missed brekkie the next day so that might have helped keep the weight off

  • Limiting fructose may boost weight loss, researcher reports This article adds to the previous post on the topic of high fructose corn syrup.

The message from this study is powerful because body fat synthesis was measured immediately after the sweet drinks were consumed,” Dr. Parks said. “The carbohydrates came into the body as sugars, the liver took the molecules apart like tinker toys, and put them back together to build fats. All this happened within four hours after the fructose drink. As a result, when the next meal was eaten, the lunch fat was more likely to be stored than burned.

“This is an underestimate of the effect of fructose because these individuals consumed the drinks while fasting and because the subjects were healthy, lean and could presumably process the fructose pretty quickly. Fat synthesis from sugars may be worse in people who are overweight or obese because this process may be already revved up.”

    Hi everyone ,

Had a good day low carbing :D .

I cooked a chicken type of stew that I somehow created myself and it was wonderfull.
Then for dessert I made some meringues with splenda and it worked :j ,

So I topped the meringues with whipped up "thick" double cream and raspberrys , with a drissel of da vinci syrup.

    :T

This was the recipe I made up last night and it was so yummy my kids asked for more ( which is a first :rotfl: ) .

Fry in a pan - chicken strips (until white).
Add a sliced leek - and continue frying until soft.
Then add 1/2 pint of vegetable stock, using - "Kallo" organic vegetable stock cubes (holland and barrat - buy one get one free at the moment smile.gif).
    Add some diced swede.
Add a frozen vegtable mix ( i used carrots and brocklie).
A dash of cream + a teaspoon of butter.
    mixed herbs.
    salt and pepper

I threw mine in the slow cooker :D .
    Kindness costs nothing :)
