You shouldn't be having anything caffeinated.

G-G - you really need to read about and understand the 'rules' before starting this kind of diet.

We are doing a different plan to you though remember:

This allows coffe and tea :)

I found this which reckons Coconut milk has 6.3 grams of carbs, Heavy cream 6.6grams. So not much difference.. just wondering if there would be more sugar? Oooooh, i'd love a coconut milk curry

Coconut cream can't be used in Phase 1.

And double cream is typically 2.6g of carbs per 100ml. Heavy cream is a US product, so don't use that figure!

Where do you get the info for Idiot Proof diet Tinkerbell?

I have been really good for lunch. I had a slither of ham, a slither of roast beef, a babybel, a chicken skewer and slice of a tomato. I hope that's good anyhow

Going to have chicken again for dinner tonight, with brocolli and cauliflower.

So, how much have people lost on the various low carb diets? and have you found that it got easier after a week or two?

It's a book, and the authors have an online forum at https://www.pig2twig.com

The caffeine in tea and coffee will send your blood sugar all over the place, which will increase cravings for starchy foods. Whole point of low carb is to keep your blood sugar stable.

Are you taking supplements? They're very important to ensure you have full nutrition, especially in phase 1.

I've lost 2 stone (and as of today 2 dress sizes :j) since the end of January. But as a veggie it is much harder for me to lose weight quickly as finding protein sources without hidden carbs isn't easy.

On the Idiot Proof Diet you should have had a dollop of mayo (free range with the lowest carbs you can find) with your lunch. Remember you need to take on a fair bit of fat because you don't have the carbs for your body to burn.

I took 2 weeks to prepare to start the diet, and I have to say I find it easy now.

    The forum is FABULOUS.

I'm steadily losing 1-2lbs a week, which suits me. I daresay I could up that with a bit more exercise. ;)

    Love the forum name :)

I did Atkins a few years back and so can remember a couple of things from that, although I have read the Dr Dhalqvists web page and based my diet around that so far.

I have been looking into it for quite a while now, but wanted to try a low fat regular diet first, but it just wasn't working for me at all..

So, here I am, snacking on meat and cheese again, I am determined to stick with it and do it properly though, otherwise there is no point I guess.

The tea I can ditch, but it does say we can have it on the diet I have been following, so maybe I should see how I go..? I'm not sure.. There are so many varieties of low carb and the rules seem to be very slightly different.

I could really do with getting a book and following a plan from scratch like I did with Atkins..

Thanks for the info Tinkerbell, and well done with the weight loss, sounds exactly like what I want to achieve.

I play badminton, mountainbike and go snowboarding weekly. Plus workouts at home, weights etc.. and gym one a week to use the treadmill and rowing machines. I also go for a long hike on a sunday now about 6-10 miles. Although my workouts have been quite new in the last few weeks, so now i'm into the exercise and past the 'beginner' phase of that i'm ready to get my diet sorted to run alongside it.. I'm certainly not fit though :( Not yet anyway ;)

I'm determined to do this though! I want to join the RAF and so I have to lose weight and get fit. I'm giving myself 6 months.

G-G you're right there are various low-carb plans around... what attracted me to the Dahlqvist one in the first place was the simplicity of it - no need to count anything - and the list of permitted foods is not too restrictive. So I think i'll try to stick with it and see how i get on:)

Off to have my ham salad for lunch in a minute;)

Well, I've lost about half a stone in three weeks. But to be honest, although I do definitely need to lose weight I am really impressed with the other benefits - especially the fact that my sleep quality has improved no end and also my energy and concentration levels :j

Re book - don't forget this is a money saving site hun, so don't go spending too much money!;):D :money:

Yeah, low carb def costs more because of buying meat and high protein foods.. eggs, cheese etc are all quite pricey in comparison to a 6pack of donuts.. :undecided

Right, i'm not getting a book.. I'm sure I know what I need to do.. :)

I am going to cut out the tea, although I havn't noticed any effects from it.. but i'm not a major tea or coffee drinker, so if it may help me to lose weight I may aswell lose it. :)

I think i'm def going thru the carb withdrawal phase.. I feel half dead..
