Bee's Onion Bhajis:
These are lovely. I like them better than the 'real thing'
You need:
200g ground almonds
4 eggs, separated
100ml double cream
3 medium onions, cut in half and very finely sliced
1sp salt
2 green chillis finely chopped (seeds removed if you prefer)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric
Roast the cumin seeds in a dry, medium hot pan until they start to smell fragrant. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
Mix together the ground almonds, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt, baking powder and chopped chillis.
Beat in the egg yolks and cream.
Whisk the egg whites to soft peaks and fold into the almond mixture.
Separate the onion slices and gently fold into the almond batter a third at a time until all the onion is incorporated.
Cover the bottom of a frying pan with groundnut oil to about half a centimetre depth and put over a low to medium heat.
Using a dessertspoon, fry spoonfuls of batter on both sides until deep brown and crisp.
Serve hot and sizzling straight from the pan sprinkled with chopped fresh coriander and chopped fresh mint.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Eggstra, Eggstra: Low-Carb Food Fills You Up
eating eggs shows they will help keep your hunger satisfied longer
Interestingly, this led the egg eaters to only eat a 568-calorie lunch compared to a 732-calorie lunch for the bagel eaters. Overall for the entire day of the test, the women who consumed eggs for breakfast had 1,761 calories that day while the women who consumed bagels for breakfast had 2,035 calories. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I'm annoyed this isn't working and I'm bingeing. I am keeping it as Atkins bingeing i.e. meat but this is just meaning I'm staying where I am.
I am going to stick with this for the next 2 weeks (whilst on holidays) but if I haven't seen any real loss by then I am giving up and starting a conventional diet.
3lb in 3 weeks is just too slow for me. When I can get 3.5lb a week from diets I have done and kept to before.
I guess Atkins is not suitable for someone who loves meat as much as me. You can't have "liberal cocaine" allowed in a diet for a drug addict.
Maybe I should leave the thread. This is a support group and all I do is moan and question the whole ethos.

I haven't spend much time in this thread explaining the involvement of Vitamin d3 status on Insulin Resistance. I'll do so next week if I get time. But if you haven't already raised your vitamin D3 status to over 50ng 125nmol/l by taking an effective strength supplement then I think you may find that this is my secret weapon that enabled my weight to drop off at 2.25lbs a week without the Atkins induction stages. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

no gillette there is no need to leave at all, u arent really questioning the ethos just whether its right for u or not
unfortunately binge eating of any kind is not going to work (as u know) .. sorry not tryin to teach granny to suck eggs, so one way or another u have to address that issue before u will be able to lose weight on any diet
u are losing a 1lb a week and enjoying what u eat.. is that really so bad??
i do think using somehting like fitday.com wil help u keep control of what u are eating cos it shows u amount of carbs etc u are consuming and keeps the mind concentrated

I don't have one
Nor a potato ricer. I tend to stick to basic kitchen equipment because I travel between 3 homes (spend about 4 days in each at a time) and I just can't carry everything with me! I don't mind owning 3 graters, but 3 food processors? :rotfl: :rotfl:
Chin up badgie. I agree that you need to maybe read a bit more about how the diet works. Are you taking supplements? If so, what?
Maybe it isn't for you, but I'd stick with it a couple more weeks and try to read one of the diet books - it might provide some enlightenment.0 -
Had bacon and eggs for breakfast and two coffees with cream so feeling quite happy.
Might have cold salmon with salad for lunch and have chicken or fish or low carb burgers in the freezer with salad in fridge.
DD is going to a birthday party later so might get a chance to do some shopping.
Need to catch the weekly market and get some free range eggs so see you all later."This site is addictive!"
