Low Carb Diet (atkins)

Thanks maz .......the fatter you are to start...the more you lose at the start.
I echo that, Maz
I'm in a sunny mood this morning because my weigh-in showed that I've finally got rid of the pound that I've been fighting with for the last couple of weeks. So now I've lost exactly 3 stone in exactly 6 months, which is a nice round figure (rather like my own).
This has given me some motivation to really get my head down and lose some more. I'm going to try to drop another 7 pounds before I go away for a few days at the end of April. When I come back I'll need to repair the damage and try to lose a bit more in time for summer holiday.
The only thing is that, at the weight I am now, I've got lots of clothes as I've been about 9 and half stone most of my adult life (in between yo-yo dieting, of course ). It's such a long time since I was 8 stone anything that most of those clothes went to the charity shop a long time ago. So if I do make my goal, it could be rather expensive.
Talking of the dreaded Diet Coke, I've never given that up. Perhaps I'm lucky as nothing seems to stall me - so far anyway. When I don't lose, I know exactly why - wine, and occasional illicit pizza or late-night granary toast binges, or just plain overeating
What fabulous weather here today. Have a great week, everyone.0 -

Ok, I'm going to say really quietly, I lost 8 lbs last week.
This is usually in the run up to TOTM. I was just saying the other day that Atkins had helped in this area previously...it had lessened mood swings and reduced PMT etc, but for some reason it's all getting worse again these days. Might be my age, lol.
I'm actually wondering if I'm peri-menopausal (the bit before the menopause starts properly) as my older sister was diagnosed with this about 18 months ago. I've always suffered badly with PMT, it used to be 2 weeks out of every 4!! Now it's usually just the week before but I can be a right moody cow!! TOTM seems to be getting earlier every month though so have been wondering whether to go & get a blood test.
There's been 2 birthdays in our house in the last month and I haven't even so much as smelt the cake! (< to sweet :rotfl: )
Excuse me I didn't have any of my daughter's birthday cake!! At least not the first one she had.
Good morning everyone :hello:
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I've got to pop out so 'I'll be back' later with my menu etc.0 -

Actually I sent off for one about 6 months or so ago as I did wonder if some of the differences I was feeling could have been something to do with that. Test came back negative though so I'll need to find another [strike]excuse[/strike] carefully thought out reason.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Mashed potato is one of my all-time fave comfort foods & I [STRIKE]can[/STRIKE] could eat it by the bucket full!! :rotfl:
It's not easy to mash with a masher - I use a stick blender. Not too much cream though as cauli is more watery than spuds.0 -

Lol I agree....Lord knows I tried (to mash it with a masher I mean).
I bought a ricer from Amazon and it's one of the best things I ever spent money on. I like my cauli fairly hard so I boil it for a bit, then stick it in the ricer (it's still too hard to go through the wee holes at this point) and drain all the water out. I then scrape what's left in the ricer, into a pan and add cream and cheese.
Ok sorry to do this but I really cant be faffed searching at the mo.........sweet..what do you to to make cheesy leeks please? I bought leeks and cream and cheese.Herman - MP for all!0
