It really made me laugh out loud.
To all the portion control commenters
What if refined carbohydrates short circuit the ability to portion control in some people?
What if carbohydrates directly or indirectly cause the body to tell the brain to consume more calories than it really needs?
I know people love to talk about free will and self-discipline, but biological impulses trump free will at the end of the day, especially when talking about general populations of people.
If you don’t believe me, try not breathing until you’re dead, and then tell me you have complete free will. (intentional joke)
Another point for the portion control advocates:
Not surpisingly, according to this study eating low-carb with no portion control led to the most weight loss.
Does this not suggest that we have a subconcious portion control mechanism that would best be leveraged by intentionally avoiding foods that upset that mechanism?
In a similar vein, should we tell heroin addicts to have portion control, or should we tell them to avoid heroin altogether?

Yesterday DH drove me and two DDs to Newcastle as we are giving DD our old huge and very heavy T.V. for the new student house.
Had omelette for brekkie before we went and then had fish and chips for lunch !:eek:
I did take the batter off the fish and then had approved food and water for the rest of the day.
At least I did not think "What's the use" and then shovel all kinds of rubbish into my mouth.
Might try to talk DH into giving us a lift to Ikea to look for curtains and rugs for DD.
Have not had breakfast yet so might scramble an egg."This site is addictive!"

Hiya folks,
I'm 2lb down for the week. I was up 1lb for most of the week. I tend to lose my weight during the weekend when I eat more and do less. Official weigh day in the morning.
It's not helped that I have been coughing up my guts since Thursday with a possible throat infection.
I hope you are all well....I wish I was.

Fruit is certainly nutritious, but due to its high carbohydrate content it raises bloodsugar levels. (Especially bananas and grapes)
The risk is that the fructose will be converted to fat, and stored up in the fat issue.
If weight loss is slow you should remove fruits, and nuts completely from your diet.
I've eaten fruit every day (apart from dried fruit because that has too high a sugar content).
If you feel you are getting stuck consider Fasting
If you follow the links you will find plenty of information. It's easy to do if you are following a low carb plan because that reduces your cravings and therefore you can skip meals without suffering.

I don't eat any fruit at all on this phase of my diet. I will in future phases though.

I'm sort of trying Atkins induction. I haven't had any fruit since I started 13 days ago. I take a multivitamin supp.
Funny Ted put up a Fasting link.....I haven't eaten today. I don't feel I need to at moment and it's my weigh day tomorrow and I'd like a good number.
