You really have no idea just how condescending you are appearing do you?
You are trying to teach your Granny to suck eggs here and I suggest a little less lecturing and a little more humility would win you more friends.
Most of us know all the theory thanks, we dont need lectures on it. It's the putting it into practice we have problems with.
I worried that I was being unfair on you when I replied to your post earlier but I no longer feel that way as you have just put my back up all over again.
Not here to win friends... have plenty of them ta. FYI, I aired my views, you jibed... I have just responded.0 -
Just to kind of "jump in" here, although sometimes having a "bite of this" isn't going to damage you, you also have to understand that certain foodstuffs are going to cause certain insulin responses within your body.
The difference bettween a regular diet and atkins/low carb and a regular diet is that you are trying to control/change these responses.
So while "a bite" might not cause a major disaster in a regular diet, a bite during atkins can infact cause an undesired insulin response and seriously damage your progress.
Friends and Family often comment on what they see as my "near perfect" disappline when it comes to diet and in thier words my abilty to "eat like a robot". Thing is im no more or less human than anyone.
Most people put cravings down to being human and liking "nice things" the truth of the matter is that cravings have less to do with that than people think.
Cravings are often caused by the insulin responces.. the especially strong ones are "sweet cravings" or "carb cravings" .. however when craving things like that more often than not, fueling them causes the "cravings" to get worse not better because you cause your insulin response to spike.
The reason for the "induction" on Atkins/Low carb lifestyles, is to do with becoming fat adapted but as i've said in a earlier post if you eat more fats than carbs you'll become naturally fat adapted without the induction.
However in my mind the single bigest purpose of having the induction is to "go cold turkey" on the carb cravings, sure for 2 weeks they are going to be bad, but if you fuel them you'll have them continuously though-out your diet making your diet full of days and weeks where you fall off the wagon.
Figure Athletes/body builders arn't robots, we havn't eaten so called junk for so long that our body no-longer craves it.. it's not mental it's physical.
Im not a robot, but frankly my body no-longer wants or needs junk therefore i don't crave it.. tbh last time i ate a chocolate bar it make me sooooo sick it was unreal.
Trust me, as a professional dieter a diet is easier to stick to when your body's not driving you mental with cravings.
sure have your "bite" if you want but just remember weightloss is easier when you don't keep falling off the wagon.0 -

Why are you here, if you don't mind me asking? You seem far too strong to need support. Is it all evangelical because it's working so far this time for you?
We aren't all doing Atkins as you noted. The ones who are will already have the rules as per your post. Don't get why that was all necessary unless fulfilling a need in you.
Hope you don't think I'm disrespectful, I just want to understand a little more.
Mxlow carb recipe list - link on page 1 low carb support threadYou don't have any control over what life throws at you.You DO have control over how you react0 -

I stumbled upon you in a google search and your recipes had me hooked! I am waiting for the next best thing since sliced bread to come along... of course I am referring to the flax variety0 -
Thanks Leiela. You have put it in another way that maybe people won't take so personally and might see what I am trying to get at.
In addition... as far as I understand it the insulin is a precursor to cholesterol formation and therefore risk elevated cholesterol?
Mercy I also want to say I wasn't aware this was just a "support" forum. Whilst I agree for the most part it is supportive. You are right I don't need support or certainly the type that says it is okay to cheat with no true indication of the consequences. Should I go?0 -

I think your general holier than thou judgemental attitude stinks tbh. Who the hell do you think you are? In fact no, dont answer that.....it might even be best if you put me on ignore.
To all the regulars......
Sorry guys for the way this thread has gone. Didn't mean to derail it but I dont often get this riled and I couldn't sit on my hands this time.Herman - MP for all!0 -

How long will it be before we see a UK senior academic on the Medicine/ Diet scene breaking ranks and leading the Nutritionists back to reality?
Ha ha, I wouldn`t hold your breath, Ted.
Thanks for the link, and not too technical this time, although the translation was hurting my brain a little bit.....

I`m obviously not going to win any fans on here, but I think what you said about people`s lapses is right. I`d rather hear about the positive aspects of dieting and weight-loss than how we have failed.(Although, in some strange negative way, it feels comforting to know that we`re not all perfect......there has been a spate of moaning of late.)
Personally, I`m here for helpful information.....I thought we all were.
Please can everyone make up an be friends????:j:hello::j0 -
Ok menu for me today:
B - plain omelette and 'sausages' (pork mince with herbs)
L - homemade burgers with salad
D - tuna and veg (not sure which as yet)
Still been drinking plenty of water and herb tea - although I did have a coffee today in town with my mum but didn't join her in the scone eating, in fact I had a look at all the food available and didn't famcy any of it - even the cake looked sickly to me. I think I have definately had a shift in my head towards "this is going to do me no good" rather than "ooh tempting I could quite happily demolish that"0
