    Thanks for the advice
I know you are right but middle of month is always a difficult time for me. i'm usually scoffing creme eggs and have to say there are lots of choc bars in fridge for when my boys want one and i'm not remotely tempted (at the mo anyway) so am keeping to the less damaging things.
I think, as long as my blood sugar is down, thats the most important thing at the mo, weight loss is a bonus (if it happens) which i'm sure its bound to.
I have stopped eating rubbish out of boredom, only indulged when i've been a bit desperate.
If after 28 days i've not lost more i will be getting more strict.

Why wait 28 days? Just wondered.

I wrote a BIG post the other night and lost it... well that is both the post and the message was clear. I think people who "treat" themselves are really damaging themselves. You are yoyo dieting in the worst way. Low carbs and then flooding your body with them must really mess up your metabolism.

How can something that makes you put on weight, feel sluggish, cause diabetes and all it's issues, make your face puff up like a balloon, your stomach bloat like a ball, make you feel depressed... be called a "treat"?

No Shy... I don't feel limited by the induction. If I have a "treat" it is non induction flax bread/ almond flour pancakes/diabetic chocolate (boots) but that is VERY rare in fact I don't know when I last had some of that.

Carbs are about as necessary as cat food is to me...I would sooner eat that than a muffin/doughnut/crusty bloomer. More protein! :p

I am NOT directing this at anyone because you are all your own responsibility but I don't find the copious excuses helpful. We are presumably here with a common purpose. To use the low carb to it's best for some to get a handle on diabetes, others to shift weight. We are not a confessional. Telling us about naughtiness doesn't negate the damage you are doing by not following the plan.

Do it, or don't do it. I really believe that swinging in and out really messes up your blood sugars, cholesterol and makes it impossible for you to reap the rewards.

Right... back to the bossy corner. Only after I say... well done to all the weight shifters this week and welcome to all the newbies. Have you recovered from reading through the thread??? Took me ages and I learned tonnes! It also gave me the tap I needed to get beck into Atkins... Had me wondering why I stopped before but then I realised I hadn't used my imagination and almost anything has a low carb alternative. EVEN CHOCOLATE ECLAIRS!!!

Just a quick question about the coconut oil (again, sorry). I just don`t fancy oil by the spoonful, so would the solid stuff sold in a block, be the same thing? I used to stick it in home-made curries, only I ended up eating it like sweeties. That`s the reason I stopped buying it,actually! Now I`m hoping it was doing me good after all......!!!
    Or maybe it`s hydrogenated????

    Morning

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature. It is not hydrogenated and is the oil with the lowest omega 6 content so quite good. I use it in allsorts :) It can help you get into ketosis I believe. It has a high temperature stability so is good for frying with.

Daisy - I don't know the links but I found that on my holiday last year I didn't burn in the sun and I went a better colour, faster. I've been taking vit D supplements for about 12 months, 5 months at time of holiday.

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)

What you are saying is absolutely right of course, bossy or not!! I think most of us have weak moments though, that's why I'm overweight now because I've had lots of weak moments over the last couple of years!! I tend to be an emotional eater so if I'm feeling fed up for some reason then I pig out. This is what happened a couple of weeks ago & that's why I bowed out of this thread for a while. Anyway, I think posting lapses does help, it gives me a laugh at other people & myself - a good telling off & I feel ready to start again whereas before I've just carried on eating!!

Not sure about fb although I do feel like I'm missing out!! If I join fb then eldest daughter will want to join & then youngest will feel left out... Had a problem with cyber-bullying a few months back via MSN (youngest) so has put me off a bit.

I'm getting slightly paranoid - I like to eat pretty much all my food in the office since I'm there most of the waking day, but my colleagues are so nosey! They picked up straight away that I was veggie (and there's a general anti-veggie feeling in the team, jokes about "feeling light-headed" etc ) and now I get quizzed on every little thing I eat or drink - what's that? Where'd you get it? How can you eat it? repeated by 12 people individually.

Really not sure what the solution is to that, other than eating in secret! I want to keep up the homemade lunchboxes to save money, but would like to start going outside for lunch, weather permitting. I did find out today that we get FREE gym membership to our nearest place, a La Laguna with spa / pool etc
badger, hope the new job is going well. My goodness, your colleagues must be really getting on your wick!! Would drive me mad!! Hopefully they will soon get bored & just let you get on with doing your thing.
Lucky you on the FREE gym membership - I'm jealous!! I'm thinking of joining my local 'Authority' gym - just psyching myself up to go in. :o
