No i wouldn't imagine the induction would be 100% required for Atkins, tbh as long as you keep your carbs down you will naturally become fat adapted because fat with become the fuel of choice simply because it's the most readily available, one slip up occasionally won't change that nor will not doing the induction.

Personally i don't suit being as low carb as Atkins my body likes/needs limited carbs i feel really sick/sluggish without them, while is why i carb cycle having only 1 low carb day at a time which is pretty much all i can handle.

However my husband lives perfectly happlily low carb. He eats 50g or less carbs sun-friday has a free for all carb fest on a saturday and still manages to remain fat adapted.

Carb cycling and the anabolic diet both use the same principles as Atkins and while the AD does have an induction period, carb cycling doesn't.

My personal trainer/nutritionist always tells me that as long as your diet is on target 90% of the time you will get the results you need, beating yourself up over that 10% isn't worth the stress and the stress will more than likely do more damage than the slip up.
  • Hi everyone

I'm trying to do the Dr Dahlqvist [strike]diet[/strike] way of eating. I was wondering where people get decent high-fat cottage cheese from?

    :)
Hello Little Miss, I don`t believe there`s such a thing as low-carb Cottage Cheese. I seem to recall that it`s not on Atkins because there`s too many carbs in it for Induction.( Dr D `s slightly different, I know...) Cream cheese, maybe?

    Regards, Nerdy.

Well done, Mazzers! You go, girl! Regarding strict Atkins induction, both IPD and Dr D (and probably others) are more relaxed versions - or perhaps the equivalent of post-induction. I should think that all work - but probably Atkins gives the quickest results, especially in the early days.

Went to Tesco this evening and saw the Pepperami bogof - but just didn't fancy it. I've never been a big fan, and it seems so processed to me now! It's certainly true that you get used to 'clean food'. I've no idea what Pepperami has got in it, but it just sounds disgusting! I wrinkle my nose when I read some ingredient lists now.

I didn't lose anything this week. Entirely my own fault - too much (85%) choc, wine and an evening when Pizza Hut delivered to me out of the blue - honest! :o

I've got 7 weeks to lose 9 lb, and I'm not sure if I'll do it. I really want to, but when I see the scales at a whisker over 9 and a half stone (after being 12 and a half), I don't care. :D Still got a flabby, droopy tummy though (partly from having twins, partly from yo-yo dieting for 20 years, partly my age) so it would be nice to get rid.

Can anyone tell me if the sugarfree jelly is allowed. Ive been taking it for the last few days and really enjoy it with a little cream, but reading back it seems its maybe not allowed.

OH is still losing more than me (almost a stone for him) while I am still on 5lbs loss

I am on Atkins. Sorry still havent figured out the sig thing.

I don't know if sugar free jelly is allowed on atkins, but i eat loads of it even 1-2 days out from contest when im in a water depleted, dairy free, salt depleated haze, so i figure if my trainer can let me have it then it can't be that bad and my husband eats it on the AD which is similar to atkins and it's never caused hi any damage. It's one of the "sweet craving" staples in the bodybuilding world.

It's got hardly anything in it .. carb or anything wise really i can't imagine it would do any harm, it's what you put on it thats likely to do damage i think.

miss bossy is back (best change my nick lol)

the thing with sweeteners is that some people can take them and lose fine others cant, if u suspect u are one of those that cant have them cut them out for a couple weeks and see what happens

stacey are u doing induction?? if u are then the flax and almond cake arent allowed... also where are yr veg and salad??

am i the only one who DOESNT find induction restrictive??

HC u have done absolutely bl**dy brilliantly dont fret over the last few pounds, take some time to enjoy what u have achieved so far

    xx

    |Hello all,

just wanted to drop in with a line because it was weigh-in day yesterday (Mon) and I wanted to see how my weightloss looks in my new sig :rotfl:

That's 8 1/2 lbs in 3 weeks.......I'm sure I've lost more when I've done Atkins before, however, I've never stuck to it for more than a few weeks and I feel in a really good place in my head with it this time, a lot of which is down to the help and encouragement on this board....so thanks to all for keeping me on the straight and narrow! :T
You'll make my day if I know I've been helpful to you in some small way,
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x
