Bad. You really need to find one without iron. Iron with a high level of protein can 'block you up' and make you feel awful.
Please re-read the posts about supplements and take an informed decision about what you should be taking. It's no good following this way of eating if it makes you feel bad!0 -

I agree. Your diet is restricted at this point, so it's a very good idea to top yourself up with the recommended supplements, at least until you resume eating a wider variety of foods.
I take the suggested supplements for those reasons, but I must say that I don't notice any difference in the way I feel when I forget them now and again - even once for 2 or 3 days.0 -
Thanks for you advice. Will read through about what supplements to take and get some ordered today.Started Atkins 22/02/09 - total weightloss 11lbs:j0

Hello everyone :hello:
I'm back!!
Have been oh so naughty these last couple of weeks (hangs head in shame) but I'm hoping I can get back on the straight & narrow now - I'm crossing fingers, legs, eyes & anything else I can think of!! :rotfl:
I won't tell you just how much weight I put back onbut it wasn't good.
I've been to the Library & borrowed 'The Illustrated Atkins New Diet Cookbook' so I'm going to work my way through that. I'm not saying I'll be doing Atkins but just wanted some low-carb recipe ideas/information. Have also been cutting & pasting recipes from Mercy's link so feel like I'm more organised menu-wise than before. Do need to invest in a small microwave tho - have managed without one for the last 2 years but I'd like to try some LC 'microwave recipes' this time.
Anyway, my menu for today
B - ham, slices of cheese & cheddar babybel (wasn't very organised this morning)
L - chicken salad (salad leaves, roast chick, coleslaw, cheese & 2 cherry toms)
D - frying steak & cabbage medley (going to add butter & black pepper to the cabbage - mmmmmmmmmmmm!!)
Have bought myself some S&V peanuts for any little emergencies!!
Also, have bought some lemons so that I can have them squeezed into hot water instead of coffee - think that's ok?
Oh, it's great to be back!!
Oops, nearly forgot, have bought myself leeks, cream & cheese for the yummy cheesy leeks - my mouth is slavering already!!
Happy days everyone. :j

Menu time for me:
B - omelette with spring onions
L - chicken, lettuce, 1 small tom, cucmber
D - salmon or tuna (can't decide which), stir-fried veg (cabbage, leek)
Drinks - herb teas and water (am going to be sloshing about with all the water lol)
How does that look for the first day? Am not going to be having a huge amount today as it is first day of TOM and I can never eat a lot as it makes me feel sickly.0 -
Hi everyone
I'm trying to do the Dr Dahlqvist [strike]diet[/strike] way of eating. I was wondering where people get decent high-fat cottage cheese from? Tesco only seem to do low-fat, apart from a pot that is marked as cottage cheese with creme fraiche added. I don't think that's the same thing, is it? Morrisons do one that isn't low-fat but frankly it was tasteless. Any ideas?
I guess I'd better join in and post what I've had today:
B: full fat greek yogurt with a dash of splenda
L: salad with cottage cheese and coleslaw (from canteen, cottage cheese was lovely and thick and creamy, hence my question)will be fake meat burgers with carrots
Drinks: one tea and one coffee, both with a sweetener and semi-skimmed milk. Not good, will start on the water soon.
Exercise: cycling for 20mins x2, going to gym for 30 mins on crosstrainer after work.
Nice to see some other vegetarians doing low carb btw0 -

My way is Atkins0 -
thanks kissitbetta for your pm.
As for competitions i bought a load of ebay for quite cheap with some really random designs on them but hey does the job - spose you can make your own out of card - i can send you the dimensions of the ones i use. Have you subscribed to the competitions thread on here? they have a seperate sticky for postals.
Also re- leeks does anyone know how to clean them properly? i am planning some creamed leeks with chopped bacon in for tonight and mine always turn out gritty no matter how much i try and wash them! is it work peeling them all apart as they fall apart into rings when you cook them anyway ?!keep calm and carry on :rotfl:

Hiya lady's and gent's
Can i join you guys??! im not on atkin's but i figure you guys are going be the closest thing i can find around here, no-one else is likely to understand my weird, strange and frankly bizzare eating habits.
Both me and my husband are weight lifters, right now he's on the anabolic diet which is alittle like the induction stage of the AD with 1 days carb load a week (saturday). I'm currently carb cycling which basically means i keep my Protien high, fats moderate and cycle my carbs from low to high depending on body's needs.
im sooo jealous .. bacon, cheese.... hmmm sounds like heaven, but no our low carb is "no dairy" "limited bad fats" blah!! no fun... basically our diet usually looks like something out of a horror story.... its usually something with green mush.
Anyhoo ... i've been bulking trying to gain some muscle since christmas i've gained a whole stone   and i really really want to find my ab's again or fit into my pants for that matter, but the old style thread and yummy baking keeps sabataging me.. darn it. Anyone else have difficulty making yummy things for thier kids without eating it??
Also how do you guys keep the costs down?? i've found over the past 12months our food prices have sky rocketed, protein is soooo expensive.. gah.. and right now a change of circumstances is threatening to squash our lifestyle as we can no longer afford to spend £300-£500 a month on food, but it just seems impossible to get the protien in without spending loads, beans and lentils are all well and good but they have carbs !!! argh!!!0
