how about whey protien or soya protien powders? some people cook with them and they may stop u snacking on baking but may get a bit monotonous- good for when you dont fancy eating anything but are hungry.

how about quorn? or nuts- even value nuts or nut mix from aldi is quite cheap

  • Well Ive still not lost any more and the one or 2 pound is coming and going which is all very normal! However-I did measure myself before I did Atkins and I measured last week and Ive lost 2 inches at top and middle-one on hips but Ive not got a lot of bum anyhow!
Still sticking with it-and Ive been to the gym everyday except last thurs when I was working. Also had a swim last night-another 44 lengths.
So-something is changing and it may not be on the scales but Im sure it is elsewhere. My belt is now not on the last notch-but the last but one-not its a rather old belt of good quality and I have another 4 notches to go to get to where I was a few years ago! I shall always keep this belt-it tells many tales!
Today I had egg mayo for breakfast and a s/f jellly later. DD has just given me a square of 85%. DS asked what to buy me for Mothers day as he cant get me chocolates! I will find a piece of jewelerry I think. Or some music.
Got to figure out tea now-must delve into the freezer!
Not having cauli or broc this week and cutting down on the cheese and cream as I think these things have been stalling me. Drinking more water and decaf coffee now.
Previous weight gain may well have been thyroid related as my tests now show im ok for thyroid after being on the tablets for 6 weeks.
So if in doubt-check with your doc! Atkins book also highlights this-especialy with middle-aged women.

Hi Mazzers, it wasn't me that mentioned it before but i do have a treadmill and its in the garage. I wouldn't suggest putting one in your bedroom as they are very noisy and the pounding on it would come straight through to downstairs. I have a telly set up in the garage so I go out there with the volume high and run whilst waching the soaps!! Mine it quite bulky also although it does fold up and some of them are probably small enough to fold down and slide under your bed but for a decent one they are considerably big in size.

Hmm, think it'll have to be out walking then as my garage has no roof at the mo.

    thanks kissitbetta for your pm.

As for competitions i bought a load of ebay for quite cheap with some really random designs on them but hey does the job - spose you can make your own out of card - i can send you the dimensions of the ones i use. Have you subscribed to the competitions thread on here? they have a seperate sticky for postals.

Also re- leeks does anyone know how to clean them properly? i am planning some creamed leeks with chopped bacon in for tonight and mine always turn out gritty no matter how much i try and wash them! is it work peeling them all apart as they fall apart into rings when you cook them anyway ?!

Do it the jamie oliver way, slice lengthways about inch from root all way down to end, same other side so that its quartered down the length but held together at root, then always wash with water running from root end as washing other way doesn't remove grit. I have never had gritty leeks when done this way.

    My day with friends.
Went harvester 12.30 and had bacon/chicken breasts/cheese and some bbq sauce was on it but didnt touch the potatoes, peas or bread and the bread rolls there are warm &delicious, had salad with it but had some dressing. my friends shocked i didnt have bread roll as they scoffed 2 each plus jacket potato. Went shopping and they were all scoffing lindor chocs but i refused any, went for coffee and i was still so full but they wanted to eat again but settled for biscuits. couldn't believe they were hungry again but thats carbs for you isn't it.
So was very good, only bad thing was some bbq sauce and a liitle honey/mustard dressing.
Only just had piece chicken, celery with cream cheese and chunk cheese.
Didn't post dinner menu last night as i forgot to have any.
Am pleased and shocked at myself today.

Interesting to read one of teds links to the female doc who co-wrote atkins book (cant remember name) she states that you dont have to do induction, it puts a lot of people off by being so strict, it does boost weight loss but isnt necessary for the health benefits and better to not do induction than not do the diet at all, will still lose weight but obviously not as fast.
