hi everyone have been going through a crap time on this diet this week have gained 5lbs last week then lost 4lb but overall have lost 11 lb from 26 january 2.2 per wek but i actually lost 8 lb in the first 4 days than weight loss really stopped after that i had been really good the past couple of weeks, apart from jelly and the almond bread with butter i have had very little carbs maybe the odd time a bit of extra veg. (no onions or toms or root veg all cabage mushrooms, cauli and brocali)

Well in the last 2 weeks i have put on and not lost at all so quite depressed also i have taken loads of carbs yesterday and toaday and feel really down i know it's the carbs and so i cant come of this diet cause carbs make me depressed i really feel like crying my eyes out. But im still not losing any weight. What im saying is im actually putting weight on on this but feel im addicted to it more than carbs im also exercising 2 to 3 times per week for 30 mins running rowing and the bike.

the only thing im eating that my extra is diet drinks with very little carbs like coke and 7 up im also on soy milk for my decaf tea and cream for coffee. I would occasionaly have extra veg and then other times have none i should be losing inches or pounds but im not losing the inches as clothes seem tighter. I have been having headaches had been taking co codamol for that and drinking more water dont know its quite depressing

Oh Stacey! I SO know the depression that comes from carbs. It is a double whammy when you feel you have messed up and then there is the chemical punch!

I would try one of 2 things (can't remember... are you Atkins?)... 1. I would read up about the "fat fasting" section and then or go straight back to 2. Strict Induction nothing else. Then gauge the results.

I put on 2 pounds and put it down to cauliflower... might be might not because TOM came to visit so I haven't weighed but neither have I gone into carbs headfirst.

Seriously... you need to give yourself a breather. Dust off and get back on. To err is human! (((HUGE HUG)))

stacey it could be the diet drinks, some people are susceptible to the sweeteners in them or it could be that u are eating enough?

all i can suggest is u post EVERYTHING u put in your mouth so we can look at it and see what else could be the problem... feel free to pm it to me if u would rather

Every one who hasn't done it (not u stacy, this isjust an example)
Please put your low carb choice in your sig.

This illuststates how difficult it is to give advice. I don't wanna come on all serious here, but if you are serious... please make it easy for us :)

Hope you find the time, takes seconds and saves YOU time explainin it all over again.:D

Something we should all do. Gives the receivers of advice a handle on the advisors too :rotfl:

Big luck on your low carbing way of choice! We can all succeed, that's the best bit :T

    Big love

Well., my day out was very successful! I got a nice bag for £2.75 and 2 pairs of nicks (lacy cream thong) for £1 Very mse :)

On the carb front - very disappointed with wetherspoons so we just had cider in there. Got lunch from a hot meat stall, they charged me £3 for enough meat to sink a small boat! Imagine my glee! Bro (the veggie) went to next stall n got a nice baked potato with cheese n onion. Well he liked it :) Best bit was I was annoyed by the offers in Wetherspoons cos I didn't fancy it, not cos I shouldn't have it:)

Anyway, always knew today would involve a few ciders so other than that I've not had any carbs:)
B - 3 eggs and a big blob of philly scrambled
L - lots of lumps of meat
D - nowt yet but mushies beef frying steak and leeks
    snacks - mexican fudge
My bro likes the fudge an wants the recipe :j

Had good talk on how it is to eat differently. He's a veggie but hadn't thort about low carb much. Realises that changing your food choices is possible, as he does it all the time :)

    MWAH, yous!

  • I've just jumped into this thread after reading the header and a few messages, so sorry if this is a bit random but:-

    1. The Atkins Diet has been shown by a number of documentaries and research, to just be 'a low calorie diet', like most others. Meat and dairy products are much more 'filling' than other forms of food. Therefore you may be eating food with a higher-fat content, but your more full throughout the day, and therefore snack less. But, unlike traditional 'salad' diets, your not getting enough vital vitamins and minerals (taking vitamin tablets won't cut it, as most get urinated out).

    2. What you eat doesn't appear to make you fatter quickly, but over a period of time. i.e. a number of people who went to weight-watchers with food diary's were weighed, and it was noted that on weeks when they ate significantly more, the extra weigh gain was measured the following week and not the week of consumption.

    3. It actually takes calories and therefore energy to eat food!! (Example: - When our forces entered the Jewish concentration camps at the end of the 2nd World War, they naturally felt sorry for the people there. So they gave them their rations. But the Jews had so little energy left it their bodies to actually process and digest the food, that most of them that ate the rations dropped dead within minutes.).

It's believed that it takes time for the stomach to 'wind down' after starting the digestive process. Somewhere between 10 to 20 minutes. During this time, even though the stomach is empty of food, calories are being consumed as the body is still working. So the theory goes, that if you eat a small portion of something, with less calories than the body consumes within the 10 to 20 minute wind-down period, then you'll loose weight. Have you ever noticed how most skinny people seem to be constantly eating? Annoying isn't it! Most people who are skinny, tend to eat small amounts of food through-out the day. Little and often is the key.

    Your thought please :-)

    Andy
