I suppose everyone is different but I find that its usually day 4/5 that I am absolutely ravenous and could eat the world:D . Ketosis usually kicks in good and proper then and hunger pans disappear:).

If you are hungry, just keep eating. It will soon settle down;)

Thanks newish and shelby - what sort of things did you snack on to get through between meals in the 1st 14 days? I was thinking of hard boiling a load of eggs! lol ;)

So ketosis is 4-5 days! I did wonder when that would start, but then again we're all different. It was beige this morning, but that was no surprise, just wishful thinking on my part.

I find hard-boiled eggs the best snack. To liven it up a bit, I sometimes make them into egg mayonnaise, or "devilled eggs" (mash the yolks up with curry powder and mayonnaise, then spoon them back into the whites).

Hard boiled egss are good, I've also stocked up on pepperami's (bogof at Tesco) as they are great for snacking on and also I just eat a couple slices of ham or cheese.

Bacon - I grill it really slowly so its crispy. I snack on this all day long (its nearly like having a packet of crisps but much tastier:D ). Got to watch the kids don't pinch it though:rolleyes: .
I've always got chicken and ham in fridge (very easy to nibble):D

Nearly forgot, chicken tikka fridge raiders:D . I found these very handy if out and about:D . There are lots of different flavours and are on offer at the mo in tesco at 78p.

If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)

Watch the bacon - that's a hell of a lot of nitrates, which aren't very good for you.

Started Atkins yesterday and stuck to it by the letter. Three meals, less than 20g carbs and all from the food list. I had bacon, poached egg, fried onions and mushrooms for breakfast about 9am and now I'm starving. I just had an olive and a slice of cheese! lol

I presume this feeling is normal. I'm not craving anything in particular I just want to eat so much when I'd normally make it through until a 1-1:30 lunch.

I think I'll be having a whole roast chicken for breakfast tomorrow! lol

Hi, the Atkins book says that after 48 hrs all carbs are used up but an article i read yesterday said its 16 hrs, so not too sure but after 48hrs I found my hunger pangs gone so hang in there, when i first did it i would fry a chicken breast in butter or have some more bacon or pork chop or fish etc every time i was hungry until ketosis kicked in and i lost a stone in a month so was obviously ok for me.
Now, i rarely get hungry and often forget to eat (unheard of for me) i'm a greedy cow with a big appetite but thats prob carbs for you!!

mazzers if it said cooking chocolat it wil be because its a cheaper blend and may well have a bitter taste just becasue its 85% doesnt make it good.. i know i sound a bit snobby but with proper chocolate (a bit like coffee) u get what u pay for....i prefer the hotel chocolat one yes its more expensive but the taste cannot be compared

    x
Not snobby, I agree with you, you only get what you pay for but its Finest choc and does say for cooking or simply to eat.
Anway, tried it and was lovely, thought all high cocoa choc would be bitter, will have to compare to G&B now:rotfl:
I love bitter dark choc anyway, never liked Galaxy or Lindt milk choc. Must be a weirdo:rotfl:

Now give me a bar of Galaxy or Lindt milk anyday but I am going to try the 85% stuff for when times are really desparate. So far managed not to need any chocolate.

Thanks everyone for the diabetes related help, I've been a head-in-the-sand diabetic for a year now :o. We talk about lightbulb moments with regards to our debts but for me my lightbulb moment was realising I've been eating low fat and slow acting carbs for many years and yet the pounds continue to pile on and the dreaded D day arrived so something isn't working .

So I've been having salmon omlettes for breckie, ham and fruit for lunch and the meat and veg without the pasta or potatoes for supper, think I need to expand my horizons :rotfl:.
