I know, it was next to all the cheapo cooking choc too, but it must be good quality if its 85% was cheaper than the other 85%s though.

The pink stiks did lull me into thinking i could drink the odd few wines but it halted weight loss i realised later so i had to abstain. bit of a mystery that one.
I dont drink so much now so its not such a problem.

Check the carbs of chocolate, rather than the price (not very MSE, I know).

Wine is a terrible piggy staller, but no mystery really. Alcohol takes first place in the burning-off competition, then carbs, then fat.

The mystery to me was why i would be in ketosis for a week but then weighing at end of week and not losing. If i wasnt burning fat, why ketones? do you get me?
Anyway, long time ago, lesson learned:rotfl:
The choc is carbs 20g per 100g of which sugars 14g, dont know if relevant but fibre12g
Each square sugar 2.7g and they are huge squares, about 1"x1"x 1/2" thick, four squares weigh 75g
Is that the norm? or is Lindt lower?

Hi everyone. I have been reading through this for a while now and started Atkins induction almost two weeks ago with OH. I was going to do Celebrity Slim to give myself a kick start but DD ended up using it.

OH has lost 12lbs but to my shame I have only lost 2lbs. Most days I dont eat breakfast and lunch or maybe have a cube of cheese or slice of meat. Dinner is meat or fish and veg with cheese sauce and have cut coffee down to 1 or 2 cups a day, using canderel and cream. At night I have a bit of cheese and a few slices of meat but have been eating celery sticks too. Ive had a few vodkas and diet coke (know I shouldnt).

Can anyone help with what supplements to buy. I went to Holland and Barrett today but ended up with nothing except multivitamins. Iwas going to buy kelp tablets with vit b6 and cider vinegar to boost metabolism. OH has type 2 diabetes and is tired and achey.

I also got some ketostix from Boots but colour did not change at all so I must be having too many carbs somewhere.

    Sorry for the long post.

    Thanks.

jumpingjack well u have answered yr own question re not losing so much and sticks,,,"Ive had a few vodkas and diet coke (know I shouldnt)." .. cut them iout and u should see things move a bit quicker

mazzers if it said cooking chocolat it wil be because its a cheaper blend and may well have a bitter taste just becasue its 85% doesnt make it good.. i know i sound a bit snobby but with proper chocolate (a bit like coffee) u get what u pay for....i prefer the hotel chocolat one yes its more expensive but the taste cannot be compared

I've wondered the same thing, mazzers. But I know that you can be in ketosis and not lose, and lose when not in ketosis. So I don't think the sticks mean a great deal.

    The choc I [strike]buy[/strike] don't buy any more is Green & Black's organic 85% and it's 19%.

There are however many people who have been able to gradually reduce medications to the point they no longer need them but as stacey says that is NOT the same as a cure, in the same way you can lose weight eating LC but go back to HC and you really should not be surprised what happens regarding weight regain.
Diabetesnewstand has some excellent videos, should be compulsory viewing for all diabetics and anyone eating low carb.

  • Started Atkins yesterday and stuck to it by the letter. Three meals, less than 20g carbs and all from the food list. I had bacon, poached egg, fried onions and mushrooms for breakfast about 9am and now I'm starving. I just had an olive and a slice of cheese! lol

I presume this feeling is normal. I'm not craving anything in particular I just want to eat so much when I'd normally make it through until a 1-1:30 lunch.

I think I'll be having a whole roast chicken for breakfast tomorrow! lol

I find it strange that you are so hungry, I found the opposite on this diet, that I am rather full and not hungry but still eat breakfast, lunch and diner. even if I don't really feel like anything then it stops me snacking. Hopefully your body will adjust soon and you will start feeling more full like I think most of us do.
    Started Atkins 22/02/09 - total weightloss 11lbs:j

I suppose everyone is different but I find that its usually day 4/5 that I am absolutely ravenous and could eat the world:D . Ketosis usually kicks in good and proper then and hunger pans disappear:).

If you are hungry, just keep eating. It will soon settle down;)
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)
