It is important that you get the book and follow it to the letter!
Briefly, Induction is minimum of 2 weeks and max 20g carbs per day. If you want to do this I will scan the pages of allowable foods for you and email them to you. A lot of things you think may be allowed are not!
I reread my book very often.
No fruit no nuts no sauces from jars or packets,no seeds, no cereals rice pasta or bread or anything containing any of the above.
    That still leaves lots!
Im on in induction-doing my 3rd week of it at the mo! It isnt hard to do.
If you want some menu ideas there on lots on this thread but a lot of people are doing "other" lowcarb diets which wouldnt really comply with Atkins.
If you follow ideas-make sure the person is doing Atkins-for a first timer it will be very helpful.
Ive got the Atkins New Diet Revolution.

Thanks for the advice - I bought the Atkins New Diet Revolution and the 14 Day Induction for dummies LOL or something, and it's looking good.

Did a big shop from the permitted items list yesterday, got my Ketostix this morning and did the dreaded weigh in  so it's day 1 today!!!

Breakfast: poached egg, bacon, fried onions & mushrooms
Lunch: roast chicken leg with salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, grated cheese & 1/4 juice lemon
Dinner: baked trout & steamed greens with knob of butter & pepper

I've not had dinner yet, but any comments about today's meals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Shy, mazzers and kissitbetta - will be picking people's brains ready for monday then. I did do Atkins years and years ago when it was a heck of a lot more restrictive and I coulndn't cope with that for love nor money - but this latest one seems a whole lot better (nearly finished the book now). So is there anything I really need to make sure I buy on Thurs when I do the shopping that you'd say were real essentials? I have the salad, veg, meat and fish sorted but is there anything else? Oh vitamins - any recommends on those? Am sure there are more questions that I'll need to ask as they pop into my brain. Thanks guys.

This is my menu for today. I hope I'm on the right track.

B: 3 slices of bacon, sausage, egg and mushrooms
L: Ham salad with homemade coleslaw
D: Steak, broccoli, cauliflower with mushroom sauce
    Snack: Cream cheese pancake

If I don't lose weight this week I'll cry

Aaah, well since "Veggie Induction" reeeeally didn't suit me, I'm back to "Badger's Plan" Unfortunately, this week isn't the best out of the month so I'm very much victim of my cravings - if I don't give into them, I get tired, emotional and worst of all I'm in constant pain. Thankfully it only lasts a few days.

So today, as usual, bit mixed up on the old meal front:
    - Big pot of Greek yoghurt
    - Handful of peanuts, herbal tea
    - Scrambled eggs, braised tofu, small piece of halloumi, cammomile tea
    - Murphy's Irish Stout and a couple squares of Lindt 85%
    - Small glass of Rose soya milk

I don't drink nearly as much on work days, can't seem to get off my bottom! Hopefully that'll change when I start my new job and am less bored.

For those of you who are "struggling"... I want to share why I believe I am finding it so easy. Maybe it might help?

As I mentioned before carbs are "poison" in my head. That kind of over simplifies it.
Carbs = instant exhaustion, bloating, weight gain and unhappiness. I am reveling in and focusing on what I CAN eat and get very smug about doing so. I have NEVER been on a diet that makes me feel SO good. That is physically and mentally. I know the minute I have had too many carbs... I get ravenous and so tired I feel like a bus has hit me.

So... is that pasta/chocolate worth the INSTANT noxious "effects" they have? For me they aren't. Is there really nothing in the free foods list you can make irresistible? Something you can "desire" more than the choc/pasta/vino de plonk? Thing is I have studied a bit of NLP (specifically Richard Bandler) and for those of you fighting those demons... it might be worth checking out his most recent book.

I really want you all to jump on the pleasure trip I am on... it is MAGIC!

*goes off to enjoy decaff coffee with double cream* Diet eh? PMSL:rotfl:

    Are you me?!
