Just stop and think before you post.
    First watch all of FATHEAT
Then consider human evolution and the start of farming. For hundreds of thousands of years our bodies evolved without access to carbohydrates.

It was only after we started farming and increased our carb intake we became shorter fatter and weaker.

Now how healthy does this Swedish triathlon world champion Jonas Colting eats low-carb look now he no longer consumes a high carb intake?

I love the way you keep popping up at the right moment to save us from the 'non-believers':D
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)
  • Oh hello Ted! I was missing you! What a lovely return... Nice pickie.. could you tell me how many carbs there is in one of those? Presumably not too many so I'll have two please ;) :rotfl:

Hi guys, can I join in please? last Friday my eldest son announced that he and his long term partner (together zillions of years and baby no. 2 due in June) are getting married in 4 weeks time. Totally thrilled about this BUT I am 5' 8" tall and weigh 14st 2lb!!!!!! I think I am going to be the only fatty at the wedding! Started the Idiot Proof Diet on Saturday, which makes me on day 4 with no adverse effects, not weighed myself again will wait till the end of the week. Obviously I do know I am not going to be anything like thin in 4 weeks but its a start and may mean a nicer outfit.

Everyone I mention it to has such a downer on low carb diets - so not telling anyone again but I do need support!! Will now start reading the 240 pages of this thread.

In four weeks you could possibly lose a stone, I have done and so have others, as long as you dont cheat and after two days hunger pangs are a thing of the past.
    Welcome and good luck.

    I just don't get shop clothes/body sizes.

Afriend of mine is 5ft 8 - same as me, I weight 2 pounds less than her. Yet shes a size 14 and fits some size 12s and I'm only just getting into size 16- but not in all shops. We both have the same fat mass. Do you think shes fibby ;) cos i just can't see how we can be so different yet weight almost the same.

thankyou for your comments dave but we have heard alll the lowcarb negativity before,, i cant think that being 8stone heavier was doing much for my lifestyle!!!

moon u can pester me all u want hun, do it in pm if u want i am happy to reply there or here... welcome dianne and finnegan, u will al;ways find people who have a downer on lowcarb, i didnt tell people for quite a while that i was doing atkins and they didnt even notice lol

re nuts yes they are ok but not if u are doing atkins induction, remember when u ask questions we need to know what plan u are on before we answer as it can get a little confusing

hmm yeah i want one of those too ted, whatever carbs he comes with i am sure i can work off <whistle>

newish my friend weighs approx half - 3/4 stone less than me but she wears 14's i wear 12's, i can only assume i am leaner than she is but as u say shops sizes are screwy anyways, per una i can wear 10's (thats why i shop there and leave the labels showing lol)

Thank you so much Mercy for listing the recipies and for noting it in your siggy, you are an :A, I've been looking through the thread for ideas as I know that low carb is the only way I loose weight.

I am diabetic and I did a little 'experiment' over three days, as controlled as it could be :o. I checked my blood sugar on waking (after fasting all night) and then ate 30g carbs and no sugar breakfast. I then checked my blood sugar at 1 hr and 2 hrs after eating.
I did the same the next day with a meal of 30g sugar and found my blood sugar post eating rose by the same level as the day before.
The third day I ate a carb/sugar free meal and my blood sugar did not rise and stayed at my fasting level.
While I appreciate essential vits and mins might be missed by cutting out the carbs I'm sure a good multivit can combat most of that issue and the forthcomming lower weight will be better for my health than keeping my current weight with a balanced diet.

    Thanks again Mercy :T
Hi I am also diabetic and been low carbing since finding out I had it. Had my blood results yesterday and I am now in non diabetic bloods of HbA1c of 5.7 which is amazing and carb raise my bloods loads. I have never felt so well
