  • I got so excited last night I forgot to tell you why I was SO excited!!!

I made southern fried chicken drumsticks and I swear they were tastier than any KFC or breaded chicken I have tasted! I crushed up pork crunch (from avidlite), removed the skin from the drumsticks, dipped in whisked egg and coated in the well beaten crunch (very therapeutic the hammering of the crunch that is!). I then cooked them in a roasting tin liberally covered in oil. They were stunning. I really am starting to wonder why people need to eat carbs :rotfl:

For those of you who are "struggling"... I want to share why I believe I am finding it so easy. Maybe it might help?

As I mentioned before carbs are "poison" in my head. That kind of over simplifies it.
Carbs = instant exhaustion, bloating, weight gain and unhappiness. I am reveling in and focusing on what I CAN eat and get very smug about doing so. I have NEVER been on a diet that makes me feel SO good. That is physically and mentally. I know the minute I have had too many carbs... I get ravenous and so tired I feel like a bus has hit me.

So... is that pasta/chocolate worth the INSTANT noxious "effects" they have? For me they aren't. Is there really nothing in the free foods list you can make irresistible? Something you can "desire" more than the choc/pasta/vino de plonk? Thing is I have studied a bit of NLP (specifically Richard Bandler) and for those of you fighting those demons... it might be worth checking out his most recent book.

I really want you all to jump on the pleasure trip I am on... it is MAGIC!

*goes off to enjoy decaff coffee with double cream* Diet eh? PMSL:rotfl:

Hope you have a great day :grouphug: <<<< this is called "group hug" on the smiley list, which is exactly what I want, but does anyone else think it looks a bit rude? :rotfl:

My latest downfall (apart from white wine, of course :D) is chocolate . I buy G&B's organic 85% and it's gorgeous :( Much too gorgeous. People have said on this thread that they can only manage a square or two because it's so rich. WHAT??? :o

So I shall have to stop buying it, I think.

HC - I'm really funny with the dark chocolate - most of the time it's very bitter and a couple of squares with a cuppa is plenty. However, there are other days when I could scoff the whole bar and I swear these are the days when I'm low on iron!

No sugar listed on G&B choc - just 19g total carbs per 100g.

Ok so my version of low-carb wasn't going well - having a dh who thinks its rubbish is not helping either but I am determined to do it so found an Atkins book in a charity shop for £1 and am avidly reading. Sooo who can I pester when I start - which will be Monday cos am having a carb blow-out on Sunday. Shy - seeing as you have been doing Atkins for so long do you mind me pestering you as a starting point to check everything?

Hope everyone else's plans are going well - be prepared for questions folks
