Ted_Hutchinson wrote: »THE FAT THAT CAN MAKE YOU THIN
I was reading this acrticle recently and decided to try the idea below today to see if it worked.
women were given a drink which contained either MCT (from coconut oil) or LCT oil. Thirty minutes later they were offered lunch in which they could choose and eat as much as they wanted. The women who had the MCT oil before the meal ate less food, and as the authors of the study stated, "significantly decreased caloric intake in the lunch."
What I did was to add a teaspoon of Coconut Oil to my pots of green tea (if you don't like green tea then a herb/fruit teabag type drink would work just as well). It does give the green tea a distinct coconut flavour but it quite tasty.
It certainly appears to act as an appetite suppressor in much the same way the 6 fish oil capsules or 3 portions of oily fish a week also makes one feel fuller both when you've eaten and a couple of hours later.
Although I'm not actually trying to lose any more weight I'll see what happens over the next few days. I make 3 pots of tea through the day and that will mean an extra 120 calories daily (1 tsp in each pot) It will be interesting to see if adding the coconut oil to my regular drink actually makes it easier to eat less or if the extra calories in the oil actually increases my weight.
I'll be interested to see how you get on with this Ted. There are a couple of Indian grocers near me - I must try and remember to see if I can get some coconut oil there.

Well I started on Atkins induction but have now shifted to Doc Dahl as I need the flexibility....also ds has a nut allergy so don't want nuts in the house therefore Dr D is better for me0

Good morning my lovlies :hello:
And how are my fellow carb-dodgers today?:D
Feeling a bit tired this morning, not sure why, although doollaly hormones not helping:o lol Went to bed early, but I think the lightning kept waking me up.
Elona - how's the new tv?;)
Lesley - I can only sympathise re vodka:D
Welcome to the thread Jammy:) Good luck with Dr D's plan - I like it because it's flexible. Can't think of a sugar-free mayo off the top of my head - but I use Hellman's (not the low-fat one, of course) - which I think is one of the lowest carb ones you can buy.
Salad with ham and cheese for lunch. Dinner tonight I think will be smoked mackerel and some veg.
Much love to you all,

Hi folks,
I've got guests...we went the shop to buy them stuff and now my house is full of cereal, biscuits, milk, bread and potato wedges.
TBH it's not really a problem. Apart from they cooked the wedges last night and I went to reach for one to try....then remembered.
Oh just to let you people know....
Sains French Mayo is 1g carb
Helmans is 1.5g
Sains Organic is 2.4g
I hope this is the right advice and there isn't something else I've not taken into account. I'm on the french and it' is YUM.
Cya xxGirls are gonna love the way I toss my hair. Boys are gonna hate the way I seem.
I would rather drown with you than watch the surf with someone else0 -

Had bacon and egg for breakfast and then took DD(14) to get her hair done and her ears pierced. We had chicken and coleslaw at Nandos and then I managed to buy the new Atkins book in a charity shop for £2.50 instead of £7.99 so I saved money and a charity got some benefit.
Bought a new top and brown linen trousers in the sales as I do not want to look like a scruff while I am losing weight.
The trousers are not the size I hoped for but they are from a shop that I could not fit into the same size a month or so ago. They zip easiliy!:j
Have started to read the Atkins book and will do my best but if I cannot get to grips wth it then I can try DR D. again.
Sazbo The new t.v. is great - still waiting for DH to connect up the dvd player though!
Had two beefburgers with three tiny tomatoes for tea and drinking loads of water after walking round all the shops in the heat.
I do not intend to show DDs my new clothes till DH is out of the way.
I really do not need any more "helpful" comments."This site is addictive!"

hi everyone - can i play please ?
was low carbing - with atkins principals - for around 18months then kind of slowly but surely fell off the wagon
too many just a tastes too many oh its the weekend treats all added up to a around a 10 pound wieght gain which im not happy with at all
however the worst of it is how out of control i feel about food again - feeling that food is controlling me and its occupying far too much thinking time
the thing i struggle with most about low carb is alcohol - i love my wine and beer - vodka soda and lime just doesnt give me the same satisfaction and i dont like to drink spirits really
ive had a look at all the different plans everyones doing and am going to give Dr Dahlqvist's plan a go - basically as it is more flexible and because of the yoghurt and milk - i love yoghurt
i cant give up my tea so we switched to decaf tea yonks ago and used to use the lacto free milk but its very expensive now
was on holiday about 6 weeks ago and went a bit mad really with bread cereals pasta crisps and of course beer - going again in 3 weeks and want my bikinis to look a lot better !!
