Im starting to slide a bit after my 4th week so, a strong weekend ahead of strict adhesion, i tried those diabetic thorntons toffees and oh my did am i paying for it now- the worse stomach cramps and i havnt eaten dinner as my stomach is like a hard balloon- considering they contain the same rubbish as atkins bars i am staying WELL away from now on ( i know you lovely ladies advised against it but the thought of an easy alterntaive was too much)

Polypols- artificial sweetners that are kinda likle carbs but not, they are not digested so go out as they enter and dont spike blood sugar (sounds good ay?!) but because they are not digested by the stomach they pass to the intestines which are not used to processing carbs and so freak out and hence laxative effects (bad times!)
this is what all the atkins bars and stuff has in - Caveat Emptor!
keep calm and carry on :rotfl:

Ugh, I hardly slept at all last night - kept having bad dreams and then waking up feeling like I was starving. I feel a million times worse then when I fast! Isn't that funny? Considering I'm eating three large meals a day, plus snacking in between... and it's not like I've eaten high-carb for a very long time! I'm shocked that my body's reacting so strongly...

But I am still 3lbs lighter in the first three days, and I can really feel the difference round my middle (I've also been toning up; I'm sure there's some muscle gain hidden in that), so there's no way I'm stopping now. I just hope it gets easier and, if it doesn't, I look forward to moving onto Stage 2 after this fortnight is over...

Hang on in there, Badger. You sound as though you're doing really well, and your body will probably thank you for it - even if it's protesting now. :(

Thanks for the cream cheese pancake recipe (I think it was shykins) - I'm going to try that one.

    Yesterday for me:

    B: none
    L: sausages and mustard
D: goulash and broccoli, jelly and cream

    Have a good day, everyone.

i am doing them this year jpretty i intend puttinn them in amongst the plants as i dont have a veggie patch as such.. i grow other things in containers or big pots or even on the kitchen window

i sometimes wonder about making a plot as i do have a large garden but with my back i think perhaps i am better off with my smaller containers that i can get to easier

I think I am going to have to do pots as I plan to buy a house some time after July. Where is best to get the seeds from?

    regarding sweetners-
I've been using "slimmer brand"- white tube ,red lettering, apparantly carb free and a lot cheaper than sweetex. On the packet there is a telephone number for a free sample, but i've chucked the box ! next time in tescos i'll make a note of it . have a good day everyone .

Leeks are pretty easy to grow but need a long growing season so you need to sow early (now or March) so you have some good plants to plant out (see video) in April/May. They don't need much looking after and don't get many pests/diseases but it's really great to be able to pop out into the garden anytime over the Winter and know you pull some leeks up more or less for free.

  • Well, Day 4 has begun - luckily no work today so I can chill out (muscles are still sore from pole-dancing, so in bed watching telly at the moment!):

    - Ground flax, wheat bran and hot water; tofu-hemp-soya milk vanilla shake
    - Devilled eggs
    - Tofu in mushroom white sauce
    - Green olives

Lots of Rooibos tea in between too! Though to be honest, none of the above looks really inspiring now - I'm sick of the sight of tofu, eggs and tea! I keep wandering into my larder to have a look around... there are some great recipes in the book for things like "pasta" made from shaved courgette, but none of them are on the induction program :(
