Wow, thanks everybody for you support, what a very friendly thread this is, i may stay a while and see how much I can loose, about 3.5 stones would be nice, I hope I'm not having unreasonable expectations. My next weigh in will be 02/03/09 and I would love dearly to be under 15 stone by then. Here's to not cheating !
  • I think I may have read too much of the Atkins book and got ahead of myself on the strawberries-reading from another chapter!
Ive had another good look down the induction list and as I knew-you are right-no fruit at all.
My memory(my overflowing filing cabinet) can play tricks like this but considering what I could have done today I won't panic.
This is partly the reason I plan to do 4 weeks of induction-the first 2 weeks I will make mistakes-the next 2 weeks I should hhave got it right? Does that sound sensible. I don't "think" another 2 weeks of induction will bother me as Im not suffering so far. Yes-Atkins is what Im sticking with-it works for me-its proven so Im more than happy with that.
Well worriedjm-my goal was 3 stone-its now just over 2 and a half and what I read in the book was to set the goal you really want to achieve rather than to lose just "some weight". Ive never done it that way before-its always been a case of Id like to lose a stone or so. This time that isnt good enough-I AM GOING TO LOSE 2 1/2 STONE.
There-Ive shouted it from the rooftops now-so I have to keep going!
    Go for it worriedjim!

Angela, just read your edited post - it's grown! Totally agree with you about the right frame of mind. I thought about it for a few weeks beforehand, knew I had to do something, and just went for it on the day after my birthday. You're right about Shykins being a total inspiration to us all. Not only did she lose such a lot of weight but she's kept it off - the latter is even harder than the former, I think.

I don't have any medical problem that contributed to my overweight. I don't even put it down to eating the 'wrong things' - carbs - because I'm not sure I believe in that. I just love food and I ate too much.

Jim, don't be disgusted with yourself (though I was, I must admit, and very miserable). I too was in the obese category, with a BMI of 30, I think, and now I'm just overweight (BMI about 26). I've got a way to go, but I feel amazing now. You know this WOE works and you know you can do it. You're not the only guy on here - Ted and Gilly are regular posters among us drivelling women, and there have been one or two male newbies that we hope will come back.

Glad you like it here :)

Stick to your plan and you will see good changes. Don't set any short term goal except 'I've done it all right let's see what's happened!' Which means you have to do it 'all right' to do yourself justice :)

By giving yourself 2 weeks between weighings you are giving yourself time to make a real difference! Nice one! So stick at it, any questions, ideas, spouting off - come here and we'll join in :)

    All the best!

Nah, not that far up the food chain :)

If my minions behaved like people I'd behave like a people too :D

Not scary 99.5% of the time. They did get their 0.5% recently, would rather be not scary 100% of the time but no-body's perfect :)

edit: I work exclusively with men who mostly think they know more than you as they're older and you're pretty. Despite the fact you have 16 years experience in specialist surface coatings as opposed to their never having had anything to do with our sort of specialist ink and paint up until we rescued them from the mire of redundancy from their previous related but different occupation. But at least I'm not bitter :) Shame they don't lisen, shame I'm fed up with that actually :) Hence the recent 0.5% All was well today though, the only difference was a little more respect and a better communication network :):):) I done good wi MY 0.5% - what you done wi yours? :)

At least my breath didn't smell while I explained things :)

The only time I'm scary these days is when I yell at my dogs (who are not scared when I do so).
  • Hi all,

    Not posted menu for ages due to being busy/tired/sharing lap-top with boyfriend!.......yesterday;

    B- flax porridge
    L- Strawberries and cream
D- prawn and chicken curry with cauli rice

Felt awful yesterday, might have been the half bottle of red wine I had night before, that's put me right off for a long time I think. Also I blocked the toilet.........:o I can say that on here cos I don't have to look anyone in the eye. God, thought I was gonna have to ring the plumber!

Badger- how you going, pet? Out of interest, why did you choose to do Rose Elliot after doing just general low-carbing and getting results? Hope you feel better soon.

Mercy- How's the Dr D going? How do you feel on it? Saw Ted's before and after pics so I guess he's the proof of the pudding, so to speak. Still deliberating here, but at least still low-carbing in a general sense. Need to exercise tho, in order to really get "things" moving.

Will edit sig soon when I finally pull my finger out, just had too much to think on recently. Glad it's getting more spring-like out, too, which helps. Can finally throw the remnants of the SAD away soon, that kinda hampers things. I feel like a bear coming outta hibernation, lol.

    Have a good 'un! :T

    Hello :hello:

Well, I lost a fair bit of weight nice and steady over a 12 month period, but had completely stalled. I think it's because I've now reached my "normal" weight (i.e. the weight I was when I was 17), but still some excess weight that's been there so long it's harder to shift.

So, since I never did an induction (and I've just had a birthday which always spurs me on!), I figure it's time to give it a shot. And I've now lost 3lbs in the first two days, so something's working! :p

Anyway, after a nice long sleep last night, Day 3 begins:

    - Mushroom omelette. Call me thick but I've never eaten an omelette let alone cooked one, and Ms Elliot didn't provide a recipe! So I've just eaten a very strange grey mushy thing
    - Caesar salad (lettuce, flaked almond, "parmesan" and "mayonnaise")
    - Boursin-spinach gratin
    - Greek yoghurt with flax seed

I did have a pint of soya milk with sugarfree Crusha last night - virtually zero carb but I know sweeteners are supposed to be baaaaaad :o. It was the only thing that would satisfy my poor dizzy body!

ETA: Slightly daft other reason - I'd love to be a size 10 by the time I start my new job (in 2.5 weeks)... the people there will never have known me as fat!
