Sorry Stacey, got a bit confused there :o

This is meant for skint mum.

though the benefits of vitamin D supplements are for all :j

Vitamin D is necessary for 300 different types of cells to function properly. Effect of good levels seem to show benefits in many areas. Skin, circulation, depression, alzheimers, parkinson's, immune system, nail and hair health, probably many more!

Can you tell I'm a convert? :rotfl:

Great thanks to Ted for putting me on to it.

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)
  • I thought my weight loss last year was pretty good but read this story Sorry it's a google translate but I'm sure you are all clever enough to work out what my BMI was 48.9 (which classified me as SICKLY bold). and similar garbled phrases might really mean.

Here is the Jimmy Moore article on the same chap.

Also worth playing the video in the middle of this blog

Hello all, I have just finished two weeks of induction and am moving on to OWL. This is the second time i have done Atkins (why did I stop??). I last lost 19 pounds, this time around I have more than that to lose - 30 pounds would be good.
I am feeling good but my weight loss has been slow. I lost 6 pounds real quick, then it just stopped and back-tracked a bit so now I am sitting on 4 pounds lost. I am a bit disppointed in this. The only thing i can put it down to is my use of Atkins breakfast bars in the morning. They are supposed to be ok for induction - but I don't think so....
I workout twice a week and i walk around 3 miles a day.
Do you all think I should stick to induction for another couple of weeks (and cut out the bars obviously!)
I have read the book cover to cover a few times over the last few years, so i am pretty much aware of all the health benefits etc. I believe in low carbing and plan to make it a life long way of llife - but quick weight loss would be nice too - any hints?

Hi nzmegs! Good to have you here! :j

I have to ask all new people to this thread, please put your way of eating into your sig. (you too jim :D) it just makes it easier for our experts to help you with your questions. I have no authority at all :o but it does really help as there are many diets going on here.

From what I have read, the atkins diet bars aren't really that helpful if you want to lose weight. Others here have more info but my take on it is that since the good man's demise there have been certain 'cashing in' opportunities which are not strictly what he ordained.

Keep coming here and ask all the questions you need answered, as a group we can probably answer them all. (well the low carb ones anyway :D )

Big love and keep the faith!

    HMMMMMMMMMMM

I'm not loving this induction, guys :( I just did my poledancing lesson and it was a much bigger struggle than usual. I had to take a break because I was rapidly turning into a beetroot, then almost passed out at the end (slid slowly down my pole until I was sitting down). I even wondered whether I would manage the walk home :(

Now I know why some of you recommend a bit of carb before working out!

    Absolutely.

And with all of your exercise you could be losing fat but building muscle (which weighs more). Are your clothes getting looser?
  • Hi jim and nzmegs

Jim, don't be so hard on yourself. Weight can go on very easily when we are distracted by life. We are all here for the same reason.... loose weight and better health. I love the atkins way and I don't crave anything. I've stalled with my weight loss for the last few weeks:rolleyes: and where as on other diets I woud have just blown it, I love this food so much, I just keep going in the hope that the last 5lb will come off eventually;)

Nzmegs, atkins bars certainly stalled me and I only had 3 (one after the other:o ) so I would definately avoid them if I were you. Also, I don't think you are supposed to have the bars in induction but shykins will be along shortly and she will be able to tell you for definate:)

DRUM ROLL............................I HAVE EXERCISED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT 15 YEARS!!!!!! :T

The word exercise is just not in my vocabulary but needs must and as my weight is stalling big time, I thought I'd better think about it.... I now need to go to bed for a week:rotfl:
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)
  • Another question for everyone, what do you use for bad breath:o
    TIA

Yay newish on the exercise! :j

I'm enjoying my weights for the 1st time in ages. Don't do too much at once til you find your way - I had to start on half what I used to do but it doesn't take long to move up :)
