  • Thinking about eating out while low carbing this database for
USA Fast food Nutrition data is excellent.

Does anyone know of a similar database for the UK. I know some of the chains have their nutritional data online but that means you have to trawl round lots of sites and can't compare one against the other so easily.

  • Shykins..... I'm going out for a meal next Thursday and will probably blow the carbs:rolleyes: . Will I have to start back on induction again or do I just carry on with what I am doing (I rarely go over 20g per day anyway). Just wondering what the official line is:D

    TIA

    My way is Atkins;)
  • One of the Swedish sites I visit daily has just had it's 1,000,000th unique visitor they ran a competition to see who was the first to notify them of the event.
This is the google translate version of the interview with the winner.

Carola Bark says that she after age of 30 tended to increase in weight. She has repeatedly using the weight watchers, Cambridge method and Weight Club slimming down, and then go up again as quickly.

During a bus trip in December she was talking with a passenger who was "fire and flames" over LCHF method. After that she ended up here, and on other blogs. 17/12 she started, and four days later her husband started to .

The result was beyond our expectations, it's been "kalasbra". Personally, she has lost 7 kilograms, and her husband 6 kilograms. And no, it has not been difficult either, but "the easiest I have ever done." Cravings are gone, and she yearns not even candy. Something that the former was difficult to abstain. She runs really strict LCHF, and says that she does not eat even a single PIECE OF BREAD since 17/12. However, it will be very eggs. At first it felt strange to buy fatty food in the shop, but now she has become accustomed to.

I think when we are explaining to others about the success and ease of this method of regaining control over weight a little more of the "fire and flames" over the LCHF method is needed to enthuse others. I really don't think we need to be the slightest bit reticent over the benefits this way of eating has for overall health including brain function as well as the obvious benefits to our waistlines.

  • Hi Angelatgraceland and welcome.
What exactly do you mean by 'foods' to add to meat or fish? Do you mean a sauce? or vegetables? or something instead of pastry? I'm probably not the best one to advise but I was a bit confused by your query. :) (but it doesn't take a lot to confuse me!)

Yes any sort of home concocted sauce would be great-I know-I wasnt vey specific! Talk of almond pastry and stuff on here-I need to look into that for the future. But anything to make meat or fish less boring than mayo, cream, butter? Maybe something to add to them-any ideas welcome.

Well if you normaly only have 20g of carbs per day you are permanantly on induction??? Therefore-starting again on induction doesnt seem to be an issue?
    What stage are you at?
As said-a steak and salad with no fries/pots/pasta or whatever and no desert. Are you supposed to be on induction?

    Add chilli/herbs/cheese/spices etc ;)

Induction is very strict about what foods can be eaten as well as the 20g of carbs.

When not on induction you might only have 20g of carbs worth of sweetcorn a day - you couldn't do that on induction. ;)

    Does that make sense?

I have 20g ish a day, but am not permanenetly on induction ;)
  • Thanks-sweetcorn is not on my menu at the mo-Im sticking to the list in the Atkins book with good results but I know it will slow down. What I fear I suppose is getting bored. Lost 6lb so far in 4 days so some of that has to be water! I think Id like to do something with chilli-maybe I will add it to the mayo. Any ideas for a sort of vinigarette which I could make for induction? Havent seen anything worth buying-and I prefer to see what goes into it also.
