i managed to resist the tubs of mini choc rolls flapjacks yoghurt bites etc etc but i did have 2 clementines instead - mainly tho to try and help my bowels - havent ''been'' since the weekend......

b -1 rasher of middle bacon 1 lc sausage 1 fried egg
l - salad olives few lumps diced cheese parma ham cesear dressing - wasnt enough was still very hungery just didnt put enough in container for some reason !! 1 sausage
d - chilli and salad handful of grated cheese and dollop of sour cream

    snacks 2 clementines

am also drinking - vodka soda and lime - very nice but doesnt hit my spot like a beautifully chilled glass of pinot grigio

  • Stacey- Don't give up, I admire your weight loss! Are your eyes better now? Soz, had to laugh at that post initially, didn't realise low-carbing could bring such diverse withdrawals!:D Am just wondering about your constant thirst tho.....if you're drinking plenty and not having excess salt or sweating, this sounds unusual. Is your urine the normal colour, pale yellow? I'm a nurse, not a weirdo, could talk body fluids all day?:rotfl:

I also have quite a lot of juice to drink sugar free orange and some sugar free fizzy drinks!!!
Juice contains a lot of fructose and this is thought by some doctors See what Dr Johnson says in this interview
He suggests towards the end of the interview that maybe Atkins induction is effective because the couple of weeks without any carbohydates is in effect a fructose washout period.

I certainly found that avoiding fruit juices more or less completely has helped enormously. If you look at the carb count on the side of the box it's very easy to consume a lot of carbs very quickly by drinking them.

  • Stacey, I'm pretty certain that you are not supposed to have any type of friut juice on atkins (but wait for shykins as she can confirm this). Don't give in. Keep listing all your meals and snacks on here. We are all here to help each other and keep us on the straight and narrow. I had a couple of bad weeks but things are going ok now (well until I scoffed 3 atkins bars on Tuesday... but I've had my slap and telling off from shykins and Tinks:p ).

    B- scrambled eggs and mushrooms
L- cabbage leaves with coronation chicken and bacon
S- Cottage pie (with mashed cauli not pots):D
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

    My way is Atkins;)

You sound exactly like me tbh.

I think (and lord knows I'm no expert but I'm going from my own experience) that you need to do Atkins induction very strictly for 2 weeks.

Once your body kicks it's carb cravings, you wont feel as hungry. At the moment though, you have gone from eating loads of carbs to still eating more than you should I suspect. Your body is a wee bit all over the place just now.

Personally, I cant handle even small amounts of extra carbs. If I have more than the recommended 20g a day, I crave even more and I'm starving again.

My breakfast is usually a 2 egg cheese omelette, although if I'm having a hungry day, I'll also have 1 or 2 sausages with it too. (The sausages are never more than 2g of carb each btw)

I HATE water with a passion but I've forced myself to drink the fizzy stuff. This keeps my tum full and staves off any headaches I might otherwise get. Obviously plain water would be better for you but I figure a compromise is better than not drinking it at all.

Lunch is something like a tin of tuna mixed with mayonnaise and sat on a small salad.

Dinner tonight was 2 pieces of white fish with melted cheese on top and some brocolli.

At night if I'm still after something, I'll have a jelly (sugar free packet) or a glass of diet coke. Again, it's a compromise for my sweet tooth.

I did make the sesame crackers that were mentioned on the thread earlier but I found they were enough to whet my appetite again and I kinda ate the whole batch in an afternoon. :o I wont be making them again until I've lost more weight.

I can honestly say that I'm not hungry but I do have 'pangs'. Before starting this, I would have acted on the pangs and gone and ate cheese on toast or crisps etc. Now I'll get up and go on the pc or have a bath or something and they pass quickly so they weren't real hunger pangs at all....I think they were just 'habit' pangs.

I think you need to eat fresh 'already made' stuff like chicken and fish etc and hold off on the goodies until you are more stable.

Sorry if I've gone on a bit, I just recognised my old self in your post. :o

It's VERY hard getting started...if it was easy, we'd all be stick like models! Dont be too hard on yourself, just re-think your strategy.

thank you very much for advice but im really having an off day just went and continued the bindge :o

Im going to start again tomo but the food doesn't fill me any more than when i was on atkins.

I do get the headaches but im constantly drinking i couldn't get out of bed this am as i was so tired i look like i haven't slept either.

I will try and take your advice and lay of the carbs as it does seem to incease the cravings your so right about that the bindge has just made me worse not better :o:o:o

thanks ted was just going to say the same to stacey... the thing is u are feeding your sugar addiction even with these sugar free versions, the best thing u can do is wean yourself off them and onto water (trust me u do get used to it and end up hating fizz etc) ... also sorry no milk, have cream in yr coffee, water it down a little for tea

i know i sound mean but induction means NOTHING thats not on the list and it says that for a reason, to wean u off the sweet stuff, to reduce yr carbs so u go into fat burning mode etc etc

daisy well done on avoiding all the crap!!!

aww HC thanks but not sure i can live up to that lol

I know exactly what you mean!

Newish, your menu for today sounds yummy! Regarding fruit juice, I wonder if Stacey might have meant orange squash, as she said it was 'sugar free', rather than juice. I'm sure she'll confirm.

Interesting that you say you're very thirsty, Stacey. I hadn't noticed that myself, but come to think of it, I drink about 3-4 litres of water a day (plus 2 or 3 naughty Diet Cokes in the evening).

I ate like a hungry hog today:

    B: none
L: sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes (2 :D)
D: lamb leg steaks, blue cheesy leeks, spinach
S: big lump of Cheddar, espresso-size cup of Atkins hot choc, G&T
