Low Carb Diet (atkins)

This is so hard and i feel bloated and ill cause iv eat so much rubbish and so pathetic cause i bindged. I dont know what im doing wrong but i feel starved at times on this and dont get that full feeling even after iv eaten a meal. I spent a fortune on food yesterday and the meat loaf i made was disgusting its off the atkins book. Having a bad day had no energy today and couldnt get up hubby felt the same no energy at all dont know what im doing wrong need a kick on the !!!
You sound exactly like me tbh.
I think (and lord knows I'm no expert but I'm going from my own experience) that you need to do Atkins induction very strictly for 2 weeks.
Once your body kicks it's carb cravings, you wont feel as hungry. At the moment though, you have gone from eating loads of carbs to still eating more than you should I suspect. Your body is a wee bit all over the place just now.
Personally, I cant handle even small amounts of extra carbs. If I have more than the recommended 20g a day, I crave even more and I'm starving again.
My breakfast is usually a 2 egg cheese omelette, although if I'm having a hungry day, I'll also have 1 or 2 sausages with it too. (The sausages are never more than 2g of carb each btw)
I HATE water with a passion but I've forced myself to drink the fizzy stuff. This keeps my tum full and staves off any headaches I might otherwise get. Obviously plain water would be better for you but I figure a compromise is better than not drinking it at all.
Lunch is something like a tin of tuna mixed with mayonnaise and sat on a small salad.
Dinner tonight was 2 pieces of white fish with melted cheese on top and some brocolli.
At night if I'm still after something, I'll have a jelly (sugar free packet) or a glass of diet coke. Again, it's a compromise for my sweet tooth.
I did make the sesame crackers that were mentioned on the thread earlier but I found they were enough to whet my appetite again and I kinda ate the whole batch in an afternoon.I wont be making them again until I've lost more weight.
I can honestly say that I'm not hungry but I do have 'pangs'. Before starting this, I would have acted on the pangs and gone and ate cheese on toast or crisps etc. Now I'll get up and go on the pc or have a bath or something and they pass quickly so they weren't real hunger pangs at all....I think they were just 'habit' pangs.
I think you need to eat fresh 'already made' stuff like chicken and fish etc and hold off on the goodies until you are more stable.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit, I just recognised my old self in your post.
It's VERY hard getting started...if it was easy, we'd all be stick like models! Dont be too hard on yourself, just re-think your strategy.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Thanks for that. Bit of a shame cos without a book, you can't get the background and rationale etc, but as I've read so much on low carb already I guess that's covered by other people elsewhere. It's also a shame for her as she'd make a mint if it were published in English! not to mention the fact that she'd get the recognition she deserves and her diet would be more high profile.0

I've managed to get 500g bags of ground almond from the "world foods" section of my big Tesco - much better for baking with!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Good advice, aliasojo and shykins. The first two weeks aren't a bundle of fun, but the hunger suppression doesn't take long to kick in if you follow the rules.
Stacey, I noticed on your earlier posts that you were planning to use almond and/or soya flour. I'm no expert but I'm not sure they're wise things to use during induction. You might want to think about sticking to protein, dairy and restricted veg/salad. Not much fun, I know, but it'll be worth it.
On the subject of sausages, Sainsbury's Taste the Difference British pork and fresh herb are delicious and only 0.6g carb per 100g (about 0.4g carb per sausage).0 -
Wow...that's low! We dont have Sainsbury anywhere near us unfortunately. I thought I was doing well with 2 carbs per sausage. :rolleyes:Herman - MP for all!0

thank you so much for all the advice i have read the atkins website list which is a bit easier to follow the first couple of days were fine but as the week has went on iv been starving i had already lost weight and i havent been strict as you can see.
Not taking into account today i usually have about 5 cups of tea made with soya mild and sometimes a cup of coffee with real milk and i have sweetner with it the jelly i have is about 1/4 of a packet but i had eaten that last week and still lost weight it's not lossing that has been a problem its the hunger. I had 3 eggs for brekkie this morning and mushroom and then went on the bindge. Im just going to forget the bindge and start were i left off im having ham and brocoli for tea and hope that should do me.
I also thought that it took 2 days to get carbs out of your system
Keep me right please so thankful of your help your great shy:AAtkins started 26 Jan 09 so far lost 14lb 7lb to go0 -
Waitrose chipolatas are very low too. Neither are cheap, I know, but they're just for me.
Rest of the family get ordinary (scraped off the) Walls, which they prefer anyway.

i drink loads in fact if i could get a drip attached i would im so thirsty all the time. So drinking is not an option.
I usually have about just 2 0z of cheese cause you said to me before about the cheese and the cream so i cut them out i dont think i could do this with out the tea. I also have quite a lot of juice to drink sugar free orange and some sugar free fizzy drinks!!!Atkins started 26 Jan 09 so far lost 14lb 7lb to go0 -
Stacey, you've done brilliantly already. An 8lb loss is fantastic - more than half a stone. You're absolutely right to just climb back on when you fall off - don't dwell on your naughtiness and let it go on to the next meal*.
And what shykins doesn't know about Atkins isn't worth knowing. Thank goodness she's here!
aliasojo, the advantage of not having a large choice of supermarkets is that you probably live in the middle of the beautiful countryside. I know which I'd choose!
