It just gives the science behind the muscle weighing more than fat and if you stall it could be your body's laying down more muscle. Unless you use say, a tape measure, this can be deceptive if you only go by your scales.
The more muscle you have, the faster you'll burn calories too, as this has implications on your basal metabolic rate.
Just keep on regularly eating protein and fat. :j0 -
i also bought a bottle of agar nectar today as well and am now dead confused is it good for us low carbers or not?, i kinda find it hard to believe that a natural sugar like this wont put blood sugar levels through the roof as all other sugars do......
any thoughts anyone?
no loss for a few days now........ hmmmmm im on the brink of the next stone down and i always find them hard to get past so fingers x'd
Agave Nectar Mild 250ml it says (1tsp=4.6g)Carbohydrate=3.6g
which is highsw start date 23/09/2013 4 st 8 pounds to go....as of 21/10/13 not 3 stone 7 to go for first target. updated 18/11/13 now 2 stone 10lbs to go to first target.0 -

yeah thats the same stuff- i know someone reccomended it on here but i cant remember who atm. Found this and it says it is VERY high in fructose yet has a lower gi than most natural sweetners....

Is it better to go via gi info or the carb levels? i was thinking carbs as this is more exhaustive in which case the agar shouldnt be of any use to us?
keep calm and carry on :rotfl:

hmmm Agave seems debatable maybe keep it for times when you get sick of sweetner in recipes?
"Granulated sugar has an average glycemic index in the high 60's, while agave generally scores under 30. Foods with a glycemic index lower than 55 are considered low glycemic foods. Foods lower on the scale are less likely to trigger the body's mechanisms for fat storage"keep calm and carry on :rotfl:

Hiya!
This agave discussion is interesting.
Pilly - in my experience the weight I gained in the last 12 months could not have been down to just fructose. I hardly had any fruit but sucrose and glucose (via cakes and other things) in abundance. Just checked my last punnet of blueberries and they have 14g carbs per 100g. This will likely be fructose and I find it easy to devour 100g . Agave at 3.5g per teaspoon isn't much really as you dont use much cos it's very sweet.
I find agave a much more natural taste compared to other sweeteners so pick the recipes I include it in where the taste has been an issue. For example, the bakewell tart is great with splenda but agave tastes better in the choc dessert.
I personally count carbs except acceptable veg and find I hardly have any in a day. This gives me a little leeway with low carb cakes etc so the almond flour and sweeteners can be factored in without blowing the bank
Still, it may be that agave is a selective option rather than a coverall when it comes to sweetening.
Don't know enough but happy to experiment and report back!
Off to stir the curry, back in a bit!

This particular curry is shaping up to be a new wonder! Used whoopsed lamb and chicken with turnip, celery, green beans, leeks, 1 average carrot extra chillis, ginger and brocolli. Love the way you can just chuck anything in a curry, even when 'passed it's best' would be a complimentGood use for the brocolli stalks too so very MS
Anyone else here noticed that 'winter veg' costs a fortune at the mo? Don't know what's going on there. Caulis are out of the bracket in asda these days unless whoops'd. Leeks doing ok but parsnips rule themselves out.
I'm planting chilli seeds this week and maybe peppers, but they(peppers) hardly produce much in my house so may invest in toms 4 the upstairs windowsill and cauli n cabbage plugs for big planters. Anyone else growing for themselves this year?
The gardening forum on here has much info on growing veg inside or in containers, must research properly and decide before it's too late!
