Well done, Badger_Lady! And hope you hear some other good news today.
I am not going to post what I ate yesterday. Suffice to say it involved pizza, garlic bread and chocolate cake. A bender, you might say. When I got on the scales this morning, I was 4 lb up on yesterday. 4 lb!!! I know that's almost entirely water but my God!
I'm having trouble right now because my incentive is waning. I need some help, please, girls. Four months ago I was (in my view) embarrassingly overweight. Now I'm just ordinarily overweight, like so many people. I could do with losing another stone and more. But I look pretty normal in everyday clothes and I'm enjoying looking nice again.
I've got two holidays coming up and even the idea of those isn't keeping me on the straight and narrow, as they seem so far away and I push the horrible image of me in shorts or a swimsuit to the back of my mind.
Please give me a darn good kick up the backside. :mad:0 -
Glad you asked about the Tchibo thing, Sweet, cos I've never heard of them, therefore there probably isn't 1 near me.
Will just try grating the darn cauli 1st, then if I like it and it becomes a regular, I may go to M&S or just buy a processer, as suggested by Ted. At least then you can do other stuff in it.
HC- it's really not the end of the world that you had a blow-out so don't be hard on yourself. You've done amazingly losing 33lbs!!! Imagine putting all that on again, how would you feel, going back to sq 1. All of that effort for nothing?
Dunno if this will work but you could do similar to me and be good, say 6 days of the week, then have a day off so that you can have any treats. Note: TREATS not binges tho!
Also, maybe some more exercise cos then you actually don't wanna put crap in your body if you've really felt the "burn"! LOL
Just cut yourself some slack and keep on keeping on, you've got a good support network here, I can see.0 -
Bless you Shykins!! Lol!! Have googled Tchibo & looked at the site but can't for the life of me find out where my local one is!! Obviously not that local as pilla said!!
HC, you have had a blip but hopefully you can get back on track. We are all relying on you!! 33lbs is a fantastic weight loss & you really don't want to put it back on. An idea is to fill a lightweight cardboard box with lots of heavy things & put it on your bathroom scales until it reaches 33lbs - then try & lift it!! Think it would be an eye-opener as to what 33lbs actually feels like.
One thing I have realised today is that you really do have to be organised with low-carb. I had nothing in to eat this morning & I was starving!! It made me feel thoroughly fed up & miserable. I've since been shopping & my fridge is full of saintly low-carb food!! I've just eaten a ready cooked chicken breast from Tesco & it never tasted so good!! I won't make the mistake of having nothing in again.0 -
Do you think that you're food bill has increased since going low-carb? Maybe it's just cos I buy a lot of fresh stuff (there's only so much you can get frozen and the carrots are rank!) I feel like I'm running out of things sooner. In fact.......I eat a heck of a lot of fresh stuff now I think on, fruit, veg, dairy (not allowed on Paleo but I've quit sugar, grains and taties, that's damned good for me!:D ), meat.
When I go back to work next week, that will be the challenge and my organisational skills will be tested proper! At least I've gone from 3x13hr shifts to 4x10hr shifts per wk.
I'm totally procrastinating, need to clean flat for friends coming down tomorrow, need to buy food........AGAIN! Wish I had a car...............
Right, gonna start with the dishes. :eek:0 -
There is a thread on the Old Style forum about saving money on a low carb diet - if this helps anyone here.0

i cant say as i find it more expensive as we still eat pretty much the sme as we always did other than i dont have potatoes.... yes it can be if u go for all the 'special' stuff but i tend to steer away from that other than a few da vinci syrups which last ages, some bread mixes and almond flour, most of the other stuff i dont like anyways
HC KICK!!!!!! hope that was hard enough, come on u know u couldnt possibly of gained 4lbs in one day its just water, u have done so brilliantly dont let it go now
sweet u are right u need to have stuff u can snack on so u are not tempted when u get peckish
ok confession i had 1 profiterole todaysorry but they kept on about how nice they were,,, good thing is it was filled with fresh cream and had dark choc on top, working out the carbs it was 5g for one other than that i had salad and tuna
xWhen you know better you do better0 -
I certainly find it more expensive - all my main meals used to be based on cheap pasta, rice or potato with some sort of homemade sauce. I wouldn't necessarily eat any protein for days on end... and protein is more expensive to buy (whether it's meat, egg or tofu). So my diet has had a complete transformation but I justify the cost by seeing an improvement in my health (oh, and "free" eggs from my chickens!)Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Hello! :hello:
Its my thread over on old style and shykins has very nicely pointed me over here.
HC - It is my experience that the first few lb of weight loss on atkins is your glycogen stores depleting.. this is why if you even have one meal of anything naughty you will pretty much instantly put those back on.. because they are not a fat loss. The good news is once you get back on the wagon they will go again as quickly as they have now.
I have scales that show me my weight, and also the weight of my body fat. My first week I had lost 2 and a bit lb more weight than I had fat. My water % level stayed within 0.2, so I dont think this difference was water loss.
Also, I fell off the wagon a bit last saturday and had a chinese, was 4lb up on sunday (1.5lb up on fat) , 5lb down on monday (still 1lb up on fat - but thats since off).
Just pick yourself up, get back onto it and it will soon come off again.
Motivation wise, I would have a look thru the next/ littlewoods catalogue.. that always does it for me.. all the pretty summer dresses etc that I know I would look stupid now.. im determined to get in them this yr.
I have a holiday on 18th March, weddings on 3rd April and 1st May so im really doing my best to get as far as I can for those.

My food shopping has gone up alot too.. hence me starting the other thread, lol.
I did ww for a yr so was eating a lot of jacket potatoes, rice & pasta. It seems much more expensive buying veg and salad greens.
