  • Good morning everyone!
I'm just starting my version of low-carb today & hope it's ok to join in?! Please say yes, I need the support!!:o
I'm going to read the whole thread over the next couple of days for ideas/recipes etc.
Anyway, I have a fair bit of weight to lose (do I have to say how much? _pale_ )
I have a family party coming up in 6 weeks so am aiming to lose some weight for that but then I would like to continue if I can.
I've done low-carb before (not strictly Atkins although I stopped eating bread, potatoes, rice & pasta). I lost approx 3 stone over approx 6 months?). I also did lots of walking during this time so can't say it was all down to low-carb. Anyway I have put this weight back on (& more) over the last 3 & half years :o & would like to start afresh.
So, for the next 6 weeks at least, I'm going to try & do this!!
I've started this morning by having a 2-egg cheese omelette and will have some roast chicken later (leftovers!). Not sure what to have for Dinner yet but will be going shopping later so will decide before I go. I did a 'low-carb menu ideas' sheet last night so will pick something from there.
Fingers crossed I can do this!!

Hello sweetserendipity and welcome to the gang!

No, you definitely don't have to tell us how much you have to lose!

Hope you've set aside a few weeks if you really intend to read the whole thread :D

    Good luck!

bought some fibre stuff to add to my tea to prevent it happening again. can't afford to eat out again before the holiday so wont be at pizza hut again (I hope).

watched paul mackenna repeats last night and he has me a bit inspired too. he really knows how to give your willpower a shove even if he does know nothing about food...lol

ham wraps planned for lunch (founf romaine lettuce the best now for those who remember my previous moan about icebergs)
    bacon salad for tea...

now just off to have a big bit of fruit cake....(joking!)

    Morning LC'ers

Would any of you mind answering a few questions, just to help motivate me a bit, please? As I said yesterday, I've still not started my diet - D Day is the middle of next week  but I'm just getting my head prepared for it !

What made you decide to do LC, as opposed to say, WW or low fat? And what do you like about LC'ing?

Also, I've realised that if I eat carby things I want to eat MORE carby things. Seems to set off cravings. Does anyone else notice this? ETA - just noticed Shykins has mentioned this too, so it's good to know it isn't just me :)

    Thank you!

    Hi HH62

    I like low-carbing because:
    • You NEVER need to be hungry
    • Although you have to avoid certain foods completely, there are SO many other yummy things you can eat
    • You can eat out in restaurants easily
    • The weight falls off
    • You don't feel sluggish in the afternoon
    • [strike]You can drink lots of wine and it doesn't seem to have a huge effect on weight loss.[/strike]
    :D
  • I lost nothing :(

On that basis, I'm off the diet until after the funeral and until I get the supplements delivered.

I still feel awful (lethargy etc) and need to get back on track for the week ahead.

See you in a week or so
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)

Those are great reasons! Pity about the last one....;)
I have always been hungry on all those other diets - WW used to be starving by 7pm, no points left. Eating out is a nightmare for me on other diets, trying to guess points/cals/Syns etc.
If you get the impression I've done every diet under the sun, it's because I have! And it was version of LC'ing that worked best for me.

Aurora...keep your chin up sweetie....things like this are incredibly hard to deal with without worrying about what you eat as well. just dont leave it too long to get back on track. I put on about a stone after i lost my mum a few years back and, although i'd rather i hadn't, i knew at the time if someone wanted to look after me and cook me a meal or make me a cuppa i wasnt in a position to start being picky. take all the support you cna form people until you feel stronger.
and remember if people offer to help it's because they want to! let them!:o

HH62 i prefer low carbing because the food is so much yummier than low fat dieting. i actually enjoy my meals rather than feeling like i've gone without. But since i've been on it and reading about it i realise it is actually a much healthier way of eating for the long term too so i shall be sticking to it:j
