Secondly, I made oopsies. Tell me, those of you who eat them (I know Tink does), what do you eat them with? I thought they were very pleasant - crisp and light - but I'm not sure how they fit in, as it were. With my first bite I thought, 'These would be nice with some Splenda.' They also reminded me of (tasteless) Yorkshire puddings. It occurred to me that they would be nice in a bread and butter pudding (SF, of course) too, rather like brioche. Or, sweetened, with strawberries and cream. In short, I thought they were very odd, if pleasant, and didn't know quite what to make of them.
I use them as I would bread rolls. I use one either side of a quorn burger, with cheese, lettuce, gherkins and mayo
I make cheese and cucumber sarnies with them. I sometimes just have them buttered for breakfast with a couple of fried eggs.
I have made mini sweet ones -with a bit of splenda added - and used them as profiteroles. Sandwich 2 together with some whipped or extra thick cream and smear a bit of melted dark chocolate over the top. Delish
I don't cook them till they dry out completely though, so they aren't crispy. I just cook until golden and puffy, else they disintegrate and my burger falls apart!0 -
For me, they don't fit in at all. There are a lot of other things I'd rather have for the same amount of protein and fat. Glad I made them at last though!0

Hello everyone,
Although I'm not really following a diet plan yet, I have started to cut out high carb foods in readiness. Yesterday I had homemade veg soup for lunch and quorn curry for dinner (no rice). In addition I had 3 tiny clementines, not much bigger than cherry tomatoes really. (I would add a cheerful character at this point if I knew which button to push)
By the way, what are oopies and how are they made? Could they be used as a pizza base?Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.0 -
yumm to the profiterole idea, if u look on that thread i posted someone made a sort of doughnut hole with them they would be the ideal size for profiteroles!!
gaye well done on getting started cutting back, oopsies are a made with cream cheese and eggs and are a sort of flattish roll type thing, check the thread in my earlier post the recipe and ideas are all there
HC i dont worry how much fat or protein i eat i just worry about the carbs.. i dont make oopsies all the time but i do like them occasionally so i can have a sarnie lol
brrrrrr cold this morning, off to gym in while that should warm me up!!

Morning lovelies :hello:
YAY it's FRIDAAAAY!!!!! :T :j:T:beer: Thanks goodness. Got a bit more sleep last night, so not feeling so zonked today, but golly this week has been a slog. Hard to believe I'm only just back at work this week after the xmas break. It already seems like a distant memory:rolleyes:
Hi ladyroughneck and welcome:) "Interesting" lol well that's one way of describing us - I have a feeling you're being tactful there:D:D With regards to low-carbing as a family - I remember Vik (who posted on here a while back) saying that when she low carbed she didn't even buy a book about it, she just cooked her normal family meals for everyone else and just substituted the carbs for herself - so she would make chilli, curry, etc for her family and have veg or salad in place of the rice or spuds herself. Pretty much same as what Newish2this said. Vik lost half her body weight, so it must've worked!
Frugalista - well done on the 9 lbs! :T
HC - thanks for the ketchup recipe I'll give it a go when I get the chance. You're not alone - we've also had berries and cream this week, can't help it we just love it:o We have ours in one bowl with two spoons:D
shykins - i had a quick shufty on google - seems you can substitute a crueller pan for any one you can deep fry in xx
B - chunk of smoked cheese and usual flax bread affair
L - not sure what I've got today coz Gilly made it for me (isn't he lovely?:D :A) but it looks like a yummy chicken-y salad-y combo)
D - again not sure. I wish i hadn't mentioned the fish fingers coz I might have to eat them tonight lol
lesley is it voddy and coke tonight?;):D
Have a great day everyone
Much love,
Sazzy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
She did indeedy!
The only thing I'll say about doing it that way is that you dont get really really 'quick' weight loss, it comes off very slowly, because you're not stricktly doing Atkins. I just sort of 'tweaked' it so as it didnt cost more money in food shopping, and so as I didnt have to cook loads of different meals!
But Ive been doing it for so long now that I simply couldnt imagine eating any other way!
Edit to add....
It really helped me keep the weight off too.... knowing that every day wasnt going to be a struggle with meals etc, and knowing that me and my son could sit down and eat pretty much the same thing really helped... When I watched that Clare Sweeny thing the other night, I was horrified that she could do that... Low carbing, and healthy eating is SUCH a part of my life now that I genuinely couldnt imagine living any other way....You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....
*I have done reading too*
*I have done geography as well*0
