  • it's cooked! i grate it raw and then cook it in butter until soft.!
I whizz it in the food processor using the pulse button (you could just swich on and off) and keeping a sharp eye on it to watch until it is about rice size.
I've also (when in a hurry) tried just steaming it (without any water) in a microwave veg bag or a sealed plastic microwave container. It doesn't take very long. Probably is tastier slowly simmered in butter.

  • Low fat diets: Not fit for purpose

For 30 years we've been told to eat less of it. Yet there's no proof cutting down is good for us, says Jerome Burne

He goes on to mention Coconut Oil. Gary Taubes's brilliant book The Diet Delusion and the failure of the current guidance.
    He concludes
The low-fat diet is simply not fit for purpose.

CAULIFLOWER not cabbage, that's if you want a substitute for rice (it's not quite as absorbent of the sauce as rice would be but it looks near enough and it does pick up the curry flavour rather than tasting just of cauli.

Talking about frying cabbage though I've been stir frying spring greens and left over cabbage for breakfast.
It's not traditional breakfast fare but actually with some bacon and bacon fat or coconut oil it's really great.

I'm pushing up my veggie input while reducing fruit intake somewhat.

  • I'm a long-term low carber (have been for 3 years now) as I am also a type 1 diabetic and find it really helps me have good control however I have gained a bit of weight recently and am about 8lbs over my normal/target weight! Would ideally like to drop it for xmas though about 5lbs would be more realistic for now! :) Going to do induction for 2 weeks as of tomorrow, will be posting on here regularly I reckon, looking forward to swapping some tips!

Vitamin D and type one diabetes Interesting little video about the connection. I've followed it up with some posts Here

Lack Of Vitamin D Causes Weight Gain And Stunts Growth In Girls Because lack of vitamin D can cause fat accumulation and increased risk for chronic disorders later in life,
