Have had some tea with milk and a bacon omelette for breakkie.

DH will be driving me to the station at 9 o clock to go to Manchester to see DD and have lunch with her before her job interview.

Planning to have a coffee on the rain and take an engrossing book to take my mind off snacking.

As we do not know Manchester and may be in a rush I might see if we can find a Nandos or else somewhere that does something like chicken salad.

If I can find a Boots or somewhere I might buy a salad to eat on the train on the way back.

Fighting the temptation to have a sandwich, pizza or pasta just because it is quick.

Its a bit controversial this Atkins diet isn't it..
Only to totally ignorant fools who can't be bothered to do their research or haven't got the common sense to think for themselves.
For over 2 million years our bodies evolved without access to refined carbohydrates. It is utterly absurd to think that our bodies have over the last 100 or so years evolved to deal with these ultra refined sources of carbohydrate. We have almost exactly the same DNA as early man had 10,000yrs ago before farming started. The foods in the Atkins diet are those our bodies evolved to deal with best of all. That is why people reduce their risk of heart disease, diabetes, alzheimer's when they stop eating wheat based products. There are a whole army of diseases resulting from the Western diet that those cultures that stick to traditional hunter gatherer diets totally avoid. Acne Asthma I could go on all day but am busy. Just listen to Cordain talk here for a fuller scientific breakdown of how in practice modern diets destroy your health. Taubes explains how the health profession have been conned by research sponsored by the big processed food companies in his talk here.
Surely getting down the gym and using more calories than you consume is the best way to lose weight?
Absolutely not. You simply work up an appetite and your body adjusts to the additional exercise by becoming more efficient so as soon as you stop exercisingthe weight piles back on. For goodness sake grow up and see what really happens in real life. If you double the amount of exercise kids do according to your theory they must lose weight. BUT IN FACT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN
according to your dumb theory those people who exercise more and eat more healthily should have a lower BMI. But in real lIfe does PHYSICAL ACTIVITY and HEALTHY EATING affect BMI.

It is utter nonsense put about to con gullible fools who haven't the sense to grasp the simple idea that those foods that raise insulin levels allow your body to store fat.

If you increase the size of your fat cells they give out more leptin. Leptin is a pro inflammatory substance and is therefore harmful.

More leptin makes you hungrier and want to eat more. (it also destroys circulating Vit D3)

Not eating those foods that facilitate fat storage means fat must be released from fat cells therefore those fat cells get smaller and give off less leptin.

Lowering your leptin levels means you don't get so hungry and feel fuller for longer. (you can also lower leptin levels by eating oily fish or consuming 6 fish oil capsules daily and by ensuring you get your bodies daily vitamin D3 requirement. (most UK adults get less than a half their daily D3 needs met)

Because your body will not have access to as much glucose it will have to rely on burning fat as a fuel.

This is a slower steadier process and provides a constant source of energy.

Because burning fat is in fact more reliable than burning glucose as fuel, our brains function much better, People don't get migraines so much when low carbing, nor Alzheimers Read everything here about how Wheat adversely affects your heart.

The way our bodies evolved to eat over 2million years should be respected.
Those foods that have only recently become available such as high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, Sugar, white flour must be regarded with the utmost suspicion.

Anyone who says or implies that you cannot eat healthily without these is simply a fool. We survived for hundreds of thousands of years living naked (natural vitamin D status 200nmol/l natural daily intake 8000iu/daily) eating lots of free range organic meat and fish (omega 3 sources) If we paid more attention to history then we'd perhaps learn where we are going wrong nowadays.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Last night wasn't too great. I arrived home at about 8pm after a long and stressful day at work to find the builders still there working . And then it was another hour before they actually left... which only gave me a couple of hours to myself before I had to go to bed:rolleyes: I just don't react very well to having my routine disturbed... I guess I am a creature of habit:o

Anyway, the stress of all that meant i didnt make the salmon salad i planned to have last night and just had lo carb pate on a couple of crispbreads instead... i know i shouldn't have had the crispbreads but that was my version of comfort eating i guess lol. Back on track today...

Haven't lost anymore weight this week, but i'm trying not to overly obsesses about the wieght thing, coz I don't think that's good either:o

Elona - hope you have a nice day in Manchester with DD today. I've only been to Manchester once and that was a good many years ago. Fingers crossed for DD's job interview.
Hugs to everyone else, have a good day - it's Friday, yippee!!!!:j:D

    Much love,

I think you can expect approx 2lbs a week if you stick to it :)

It's nice because you don't go hungry as such.. sometimes it can feel a little tiresome, but it's quite enjoyable aswell :)

This is the diet i'm following - http://blogg.passagen.se/dahlqvistannika/?anchor=my_lowcarb_dietary_programe_in

Others on the thread are doing Atkins - http://67.210.103.30/atkins/atkins-nutritional-approach.php
