hi everyone, just wondered what weight you can expect to lose on average per week doing the atkins/low carb diet, im on cambridge diet at the moment and to be honest a bit fed up of it, also its quite expensive, have lost 2 and a half stone but i think im ready for some real food:Ddont wait for your boat to come in, get in a dingy and row out to it!!!0

I think you can expect approx 2lbs a week if you stick to it
It's nice because you don't go hungry as such.. sometimes it can feel a little tiresome, but it's quite enjoyable aswell
This is the diet i'm following - http://blogg.passagen.se/dahlqvistannika/?anchor=my_lowcarb_dietary_programe_in
Others on the thread are doing Atkins - http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukdfatkins...
& Also Idiot Proof Diet - http://www.pig2twig.co.uk/
All very similar, low carb, high protein. Makes compelling reading aswell
Good Luck, let us know which you decide to followBSC Member 155

if u want to do atkins properly best not go to atkins website anymore, this was taken over from him when he died by a company who basically use it to push their bars, shakes etc which are very unhealthy and can make u stall, do a search for atkins induction or similar or look at one of the lowcarb boards or better still buy or borrow the original version book
am off to get recipe for crackers but whilst i am here typing cheesecake is basically cream cheese, cream, sweetener mixed. u can add a spoon of sugar free peanut butter or a few berries or even a spoon os s/free cocoa.. .i use the da vinci flavoured syrups to sweeten mine
oh and check the gherkin can label cos they put sugar ina lot of them, honest!!!.... ok shall brb with cracker recipe lolWhen you know better you do better0 -
aha back with recipe for almond thins (crackers).. i made these about a year ago but they are a bit fiddly, i would make a 1/4 batch or something to start off with.. i should say that almond flour isnt allowed in first 2 weeks of atkins
ALMOND THINS
1 cup almond flour
1 packet of Splenda... (i dont use this)
1 egg white
pinch of salt, garlic powder, & onion powder
Preheat oven 325. Mix ingredients well. ... what i did was break blobs off and squash it to right size cos they are VERY sticky.. make sure its on well greased foil or non stick stuff.. Bake until golden brown about 10 minutes. Makes around 50 crackers at 13g for the lot... u can vary the flavours with different herbs or maybe some parmesan etc
the other thing i found which i havent got round to trying yet is the nacho chips which of course would make nice crackers (note to self to try this with cauli at weekend)
NACHO/ CRACKERS
1 large courgette shredded (or u could use cauli)
2 eggs
2 cups grated cheeseWhen you know better you do better0 -
ok shall brb with cracker recipe lol

Its a bit controversial this Atkins diet isn't it..

Short term weight loss followed by long term health implications, risk of kidney problems, muscles wasting, having bad breath etc??
Surely getting down the gym and using more calories than you consume is the best way to lose weight?0 -
mitch there is controversy in every diet.. i could find u as many websites praising lowcarb as u can find dissing it so i am not going to get into that... all i will say is that i have been doing this for over 4yrs and i appear to still be here with more muscle than i have ever had and no kidney or other problems lol

I'm eating more fruit and veg than ever! & i've cut out the fizzy pop and just have water now.
Yes, I eat more protein, but no more than a normal diet should entail really.
I have more energy and I feel more alert and need less sleep.
If that's unhealthy then pass me the loaf of bread!BSC Member 155
