Don't go - the more the merrier.

What we are talking about is modified Atkins - not a complete opposite diet which is what the conventional low fat diets are.

I also don't think it's a problem, particularly as the word Atkins is in the thread title. Dr Dahlqvists plan is basically very similar to Atkins Ongoing Weight Loss and having someone here who actually understands what that entails is helpful. It's much easier to learn from someone who has been there done that. Gary Taubes is clearly very supportive of what Atkins was saying. The only reason I didn't choose to do Atkins as such was it involved carb counting and I knew I'd get fed up doing that. Going straight into OWL by using Dr D's plan saved the bother.

Now I've found out at bit more about leptins and appetite suppression I'm sure my high omega 3 and Vit d levels have helped me enormously. I think they are probably the reason why I've found it so easy.

I think I need to do this sort of diet - I've tried Slimmimng World but didn't like it. I'm not desperately overweight (BMI 26.5 the last time I checked) bout would like to lose a couple of stone - I have a certain dress I want to look good in, in October!
I bought the Atkins Made Easy book and am reading that at the moment - I'll follow this thread with interest now!
The weight seems to be piling on since I started on HRT too - don't know if that's connected or not?
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
    :heart2: RIP Clio 1.9.93 - 7.4.10 :heart2:

aww thanks guys i just didnt want to confuse the issue and give people advise that was opposite to what their plan says

i do think dalqhvists plan is (as ted says) VERY similar to atkins and to be honest most lowcarb diets are based on atkins... atkins is probably more stringent in the first 2 weeks basically to ween u off of carbs, sweet tooth etc etc then other plans but i like the fact i didnt crave (and still dont) when i am on atkins induction

if u sure i wont confuse u all i would love to stay.. i have been on atkins for over 4yrs now and am community leader on the ivillage atkins site so have a lot of experience with lowcarb .. just excuse me if i say u cant have that cos i am basing my replies on atkins lol

ploddin away with my induction week still and feeling much better for it

Weight gain was the most frequent stated side-effect (56.3%)......the women perceived weight gain as a side-effect.

I take 8 supplement tablets daily on the IPD.

    1200mg fish oil capsule
    200mg chromium
    multivitamin (without iron)
    complete vitamin B
    2 x psyllium husks
    100mg co-enzyme Q10

Each has it's own reason, and as i say, it works for me :j

    (no counting etc)
