Gilly why just 1 cracker ?Why didnt you have a good old bacon and egg brekkie?

Becoz we get up at 6:10am. I can't get up any earlier......even for a full brekkie.

if u feel 20g is too low (cant say i felt that) then start on 35g but it does sort of depend on what those extra 15g are made up of, if its more veg etc then thats ok..... unfortinately if u add back the things u ate before u are always going to gain after all that is what made u big in the first place, this has to be a way of life not a diet

    xx

Lol Im not particularly big but I am mid 50s now (middleage spread etc) and have an underactive thyroid which makes losing weight more difficult but what I meant was that mentally when you know you can have more you dont crave things feeling you cant have them. And I mean more of the right foods not a creamcake - which I love but havent had. We dont eat anything that isnt in the Atkins list either now.

I dont see the fast weight loss as healthy as people get depressed when its stops being so quick but reading through the thread a bit I notice how many people actually go on a blowout or drink wine etc so I cant really say that they are following a 'way of life'. And who wants to live on a cracker for breakfast or not eating for 12 hours a day which to my mind is dangerous for your body anyway

Its difficult to change when you love chocolate or wine or whatever.

    I'm with you, hilary1.

I'm intending to have a couple of parsnips on xmas day, and am inventing possible low carb puds.

That's the extent of my swaying off the wagon. I didn't even break the way of eating on my birthday.

It's just not worth it to me. I have the odd half glass of champagne on special occasions - it's more than enough for me.

Hi plzhelpmesave! Welcome to thread, the more the merrier. Good luck with the low carbing:D

    Hi Hilary :)

I don't think anyone's saying you have to eat [strike]hamster bedding[/strike] a cracker for breakfast:D, or do IF. I have my bran crispbread loaded with butter, cheese and ham, so it's not really a hardship, in fact I secretly enjoy it:D It's trial and error I guess in terms of finding what works best for us; finding out what makes us stall, what our optimal carb level is, iyswim.

I find this thread interesting because I get to read what everyone else is trying - doesn't mean I have to do it myself. And as for wine and chocolate, well no one's more of a fan than me lol:o :rotfl:and I'm not going to pretend I don't slip up from time to time, I admit I am far from the model low-carber compared to some - but compared to how bad my diet used to be, really there's no comparison. I think I am getting there...

I know I've said this before on here, but for me the main driver for low-carbing is the chronic health implications of a high-carbohydrate diet. And I would never go back to a normal diet for that reason. Weight loss on top of that is an added bonus.

    Anyways, I'll stop rambling now:o :D

that will be me then !! however despite my enjoying a glass of wine at weekends - or possibly a bit more - i do still believe this is a way of eating for me
how can it not be when you are avoiding so many other things ?
just because im not doing it by the book or perfectly - which is my fault and im not seeing results as a consequence - i really do think its a WOE

with regards to sazbo's comment about the main reason for low carbing - well now for me is the control i feel i have over food - when im doing it right obviously - not the control the fridge has over me which is how i feel when ive gone off track or before when i was eating high carb low fat

well ic an say this is a way of life for me, yes i do have a blowout occasinaly but then i am in maintenance, i think any diet has to become a WOL not a diet cos then u do have the things u shouldnt and u do feel hard done by... belive me i am not perfect and i do sometimes crave a huge cake but then i think well is it worth it have a bit of cheese instead lol

hi plzhelpme good to have another convert to our thread.. oh and just to say none of us are cutting out carbs completely that would be almost impossible

sue i think what u are on about is just eating meat and eggs??... i have done it for about 3 days at a time, trust me it aint much fun and i could only make 3 days lol

saz ugh to half a cracker u will both get hungry, cold sausages or hamburgers or chicken would be much nicer than cardboard lol

not mad keen on flax myself dont mind it mixed in with stuff . oh make sure u get an electric coffee mill cos hand ones dont work.. i bought a magic bullet to whizz mine up and its great for other stuff too
