So on Day 1: eat normally till 6pm
    Day 2: fast until 6pm
Day 3: eat normally till 6pm
    Day 4: fast until 6pm

Is that how it works? (Sorry to be dim - I'm too lazy :o to trawl through long articles sometimes.)
I haven't ever done this more than one day at a time. (I didn't do it while I was losing weight but have had short fasts, as you describe, while on maintenance to correct weight gain when I've strayed too far from Dr D's advice.
How long to you keep this up?
Some people do it all the time to lose weight.
And when you're fasting, you drink nothing but soya milk and water? (Soya milk sounds disgusting!)
I've used V8 or Tomato juice rather than Soya Milk. I've also kept on drinking green tea (but that doesn't have milk in it.

The Eat Stop Eat people are not generally low carbing so as far as they are concerned it's calorie restriction. I think it works better when you are low carbing because you have fewer food cravings. I also think if you did it all the time your body would suss out what was happening and adjust. Because my IF episodes are random and unpredictable there is no possibility of my body being able to anticipate the next feast/famine.

Well even with my big slip on Friday AND a curry (sans rice though) I have still lost 2lb. However I did put on 5lb the week before on hols. So I an still 4lb higher than my lowest on this diet.

We started our 2 weeks strictness diet today. Half a blinking g-g cracker for breakfast....I didn't know whether to eat it or inhale it. It was so small.

BTW Can you prefix the word badger with Mr or Miss. I am getting confused when I read a post that has me at an Ann Summers Party.
I'd like to make it clear that I wasn't (I was peeking in the window though).

Hi Lesley hun  Hi everyone

Lesley we do have a yummy cooked breakfast at the weekend, but mondays to fridays we have to leave for work in the mornings at five past seven  which means breakfast has to be very quick, unfortunately:o We are trying to further cut down on carbs for the next two weeks, hence half a crispbread for breakfast with butter, ham etc, instead of a whole one lol. We're gonna lose this weight in time for xmas if it kills us and it probably will lol:D

    Hope everyone's ok today.

    Much love to you all,
    Sazzy xxxxxxxxxx

PS Oi Gilly! What's all this about Ann Summers? :D

  • One of the reasons why I have not had problems with some of the unwanted side effects of a low carb diet maybe because I use plenty of Ground flaxseed through the day.
There is a good explanation here
FLAX AND THE LOW-CARBOHYDRATE DIET but do notice the research this was based on is date 2004 and earlier. There is now a lot more research confirming the health benefits of low carbohydrate diets so their words of caution reflect medical attitudes at that time.

I buy mine in a 3kg bag for around £5. As a whole seed it keeps quite well and should last over a year if it's kept cool and somewhere mice cannot get at it.

But it has a hard protective cover and like tomato seed will pass through your digestive system untouched if you do not crack that shell like cover. So if you give it a whizz in an Electric coffee mill that should be fine. If you want to use it as a substitute for eggs or butter then you can give it a bit longer whizzing.

Once you've ground it put it in a pot in the fridge and use it daily. I have a tablespoon on my fried breakfast to absorb the bacon fat/coconut oil. I also put some in smoothies or sprinkle on veggies so I tend to grind whole linseed into a floury meal once a week.

  • Sazbo - why not pre-cook sausages and hardboil some eggs? No time at all and more protein than your cardboard crackers ;)

Funny you should post this Ted, coz i've been looking for a bargain-priced coffee grinder for this very purpose! Robert Dyas have one on offer at the moment for £12. And it would be far more economical to buy the flax seeds in larger quantities - Ted remind me where you get your 3kg bags from again?

I tried Mr Gillious Badgerous on my instant flax bread at the weekend and I detected appreciative noises, and I like the taste of it in its own right, irrespective of the low-carb and healthy oil benefits - so definitely want to make some on a more regular basis.

Wholefood shops that sell SUMA stuff. They may not have a bulk bag in and so you may have to order it to collect after the next SUMA delivery.
These people are out of stock but it's similar flaxseed and price
