Obesity, Insulin Level Impact Prostate Cancer Survival
Heavy men with high output of the hormone had quadruple the death risk, study found
While I am sure I am preaching to the converted here, it is worth everyone knowing that the way Atkins/Dalhqvist's plan works is by controlling carb intake you reduce insulin levels and thus reduce obesity.
Knowing those with higher obesity AND higher insulin levels had 4 times the death rate of others with the same diagnosis, should encourage all male readers to take this way of reducing weight very seriously. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

oh Sazzy that chocolate cake sounded yummy
I thought this diet was supposed to curb cravings for carbs?I find myself being more and more tempted each time I make toast for the kids in the morning or make a batch of muffins.
Shykins how were the choccy cookies?

I don't crave carbs at all anymore. In fact, the smell of toast makes me feel ill. And this is the girl that could have got through 8 slices in one sitting a year ago0 -

My weigh-day today, and I've lost 2lb - a total of 9lb over three weeks.
It's not exactly falling off, like for so many people in the first few weeks, but at least it's going in the right direction (albeit slowly - sigh) and I don't feel hungry or deprived - although serving my family garlic bread the other evening was a bit painful.
Shykins, thanks for your comments about Low Carb Megastore. You're right, of course, that I should leave well alone at this stage. I was browsing the store looking for things to buy, if you know what I mean. But I shall save my money and keep on eating fresh stuff. My lovely OH is being so supportive and is encouraging me to buy as much steak, asparagus and other yummy things as I want. (That's maybe not pure altruism though - he's probably looking forward to my bottom getting smaller - and so am I
.)

Mmmm Shykins I was wondering that myself but I've been watching my carbs closer than ever recently. I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can tweak it any lower.I want to be careful and not take them too low though as I try and keep it at around 20g/day

I WANT A SANDWICH!!!!
Well of course this isn't the choice for you as you're not a diabetic.
But for some with diabetes it is the choice they face. As one of the few UK doctors actively promoting low carb diets for diabetes it's a shame Morrison doesn't get more support and recognition. Low carbohydrate diets for diabetes controlMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
