  • As a nation we currently eat 28 million eggs a day - around 2-3 per person per week.
However, in the UK we eat far fewer than most other countries, partly because of the worry that too many eggs can cause heart problems and an increase in cholesterol levels.
In fact around half of people in the UK think we shouldn't eat more than 3 eggs a week.
But new research from a team at Surrey University shows that people who ate two eggs a day and watched the other foods they ate not only lost weight, but also reduced their blood cholesterol levels.

    or read the research here

Increased dietary cholesterol does not increase plasma low density lipoprotein when accompanied by an energy-restricted diet and weight loss.

I think it would also help if people understood more about fats.

Thank goodness for that. I'm eating so many eggs I shall surely start clucking soon.
