It's Day 8 for me now, I've just weighed myself - and I've lost 5 pounds! :j
I know that's going to be mostly water, and so it might only be 1 or 2 pounds a week from now on (cross fingers), but it's lovely to see the scales going in the right direction! I was a bit worried that I've been eating too much fat (especially cheese - I've had industrial quantities of Brie, Roquefort and Stilton this week).
I've done this diet before (long time ago) but this time it's much easier - I don't know why.
I feel really well, have rarely felt hungry and I have so much more energy. I always used to feel sluggish in the afternoons - if I'd had the opportunity to lay down I would have been asleep within in minutes. But now I'm perky all day. I thought the afternoon energy dip was due to eating fatty foods at lunchtime - but I guess it was starch playing havoc with my blood sugar?
I'm not craving anything at all, which is a relief. (Of course, it's early days, and I've had not yet had the temptation of the pub or a restaurant or party.) I must admit that I'm still having one can of Diet Coke a day (sorry, Tinkerbell) - but that's better than the 8 a day I used to have. Funny though - when I gleefully cracked open a can last night (rather like a desperate alcoholic pouring his first triple gin of the day) I was a bit disappointed. It tasted syrupy and sweet, and full of chemicals. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as usual. So maybe my addiction is in the throes of being broken.
I haven't bought any Ketostix (I did before, but found I got a bit obsessed with them, running up and downstairs every five minutes to check the colour and then getting disheartened) but since my appetite does seem to be suppressed, perhaps I'm in ketosis. I'm eating breakfast for almost the first time in my life, and I'm stunned at how a protein and fat breakfast fills me up so I need a modest lunch and dinner.
I've found this thread really useful: hints, tips, moral support for posters who are a bit down - and some great ideas and recipes. So, thank you everyone - it's made it easier. And it's nice to know there's somewhere I can ask a stupid question!
Apologies for rambling on!0 -

Very weirdBut I guess it's better that way - hold on to the negatives of coke and I guess you'll eventually forget the positives.

You're right, and I shall be more aware of it from now on. (Although I loathe celery and I'm not eating any fruit at the moment, so those are out.) I shall maybe try to up the protein and cut the fat a little. However, I'm a not a huge meat-eater and there are only so many eggs I can stand!
I said earlier that I'm not craving - that's true, but I do find it a little difficult not being able to eat as much veg as I like. But the flip side of that is not being hungry, as I would on a low-calorie diet.0 -

I'm on about half a pack of feta every day now... not sure how that compares to most cheeses! But I find it very satisfying with some olives and spinach...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Yum!
I've had feta and spinach omelette for lunch a couple of times, with a green salad. Really nice.0 -
Sadly I can't have omelette yet
Though I will when my new hens arrive!

How lovely! We've been planning to get chickens for a while, but OH hasn't had time to build a henhouse yet. I want ex-battery hens, to show them what life as a chicken should be like.0
