You misunderstand the instructions. It tells you to type http://www.routerlogin.net into your browser. This is not the internet! You could also type 192.168.1.1 into your browser. You don't need any installation CD, just connect it up as per the manual:

    e.g. modem > wireless router > PC

    RTFM

what browser..? internet explorer... no? and that was what the CD installation thing told me to do

and i dont HAVE a manual :( just a cd

everything just keeps telling me to connect to the internet, but everyone keeps directing me to that site, but the site is telling me to connect to the internet and i don't understand how :S

    did routerlogin.com
it told me i wasnt connected to the internet
directed me to change the settings
    i did that
then it said internet explorer cannot display the page.. blah blah

    What settings have you changed?

Did you power all items down and then power up in the following order, modem, router, PC?

i'm doing that now, but don;t understand how that will help get an internet connection; when you say pc i presume you mean laptop, which is what i'm trying to connect.

The router needs to acquire an IP from the modem. You are trying to connect using Ethernet aren't you?

Does the CD have a user's manual on it? That should talk you through the set-up.

you don't need to understand,,,just bloody DO IT!!!!!

only joking m8, some things happen when you power on
1 power on modem it will apply to the cable network for an outside ip address and for some time will also hand out internal addresses to other devices like your router
2 when you power router on it will ask and hopefully get its internal address and then hand out other addresses to the computers laptops etc..
3 power on the pc/lappy it will ask and be given an address from the router
Then your windows will be able to use the internet
best bet use system restore to before you put the router disk in!
