    Hi

There's travel insurance info on the macmillan website

Thanks Cabbage. I have looked there and also at the relevant forums. Unfortunately the concensus of opinion seemed to be that it was only possible to find realisrically priced insurance for Europe and the companies quoted were not particularly relevant.

We eat out at least 4 times a week - I'd rather pay someone else to do the washing up!

Alan lived in a travel lodge and once a week they had an eat as much as you like buffet but you could only visit the buffet once. He had his own special plate for this night that was about three times the size of a normal plate

Ah - that explains it. No I have to use regular plates, the walking to the buffet is the only excersize I get! ! ! Go to burn those calories somehow!

  • OMG Hoping we're not going to have to need to use that travel insurance policy afterall considering we're supposed to be flying to Orlando in 3 days time! It could only happen to us! Hoping for delay and not full cancellation and for flights to resume at 1.00am tonight or sis wedding in jeopardy!

Just wondered if anyone can advise me. Due to the recent problems regarding black ash, the subject of travel insurance has been bugging me. We travel in 10 weeks and the prospect of the volcano problem lasting months means I have been researching. I have world wide insurance with my Halifax Ultimate Reward account, but all reveiws say its pants. (any opinions on this welcomed!!!). If you could kindly advise me on 2 aspects of insurance:-

    a) If we were stranded in Orlando for any length of time as many are at this moment for up to 2 weeks, we could not afford to stand to the extra expense of accomodation, car hire and food. (we have a package with virgin). We could cover it but would need reimbursement. Which company would be best to cover this?

    b) I have an array of medical problems but my normal european insurer (premiere) does not say that you must inform them, but that you are just not covered for anything you've had a hospital appointment for in the last 12 months. As most of my medical problems do not pose a threat of needing emergency treatment it hasn't bothered me.

I had breast cancer 11.5 years ago with (touch wood) no recurrence.
    I have long term psoriasis
    Lymphodema from above cancer
    Psoriatic arthritis.

As far as I know, none would cause any need for emergency treatment, Lymphodema sometimes causes cellulitis but I always take a good supply of anti-biotics from my GP with me just in case. I also have a gastric band. Although I am pretty confident that any pre-existing problem would wait until I got home, I am also sure that if I listed them to an insurer I would pay more than the holiday cost for my insurance. I need a recommendation for an insurer that would pay out for any non-related emergency, say if I had a heart problem, as I have never had any heart problem before.

Thanks so much for all the excellent advice on the thread, by the way.

Does anyone know is the insurance by Bupa is good? I have tried looking on their website to find out who its actually with but the site is down just now. I know I have private insurance with them in the UK and they are excellent.

Travel Plan Direct - some paperwork come back as TPS Insurance. Looks as if underwritten by Fortis, so should be o.k?

    Any views please?
