I have the worldwide insurance linked to my Halifax Ultimate Reward account but think to add my pre-existing would be extortionate. Thanks again for your help.
Have you actually called them to check? You might be surprised, would only takes 10 mins on the phone to go through the med questionaire. And Halifax are treating the Volcano event as 'Air closure' ie its now over and done with and if happened again wouldnt be treated as a known event

No I haven't yet, but I intend getting a quote from them before I go elsewhere. Thanks.0

Wrong! - Maybe "air closure" but due to THAT volcano's erruption, which is still "bubbling away" and therefore the event that caused the "air closure" is still ongoing and therefore probably if THAT volcano (I'm not even attempting to spell it's name!) would be excluded from cover until it becomes dorment again, then it may be considered over!C. In case I missed it - If you do not disclose a known PEMC, you'd probably be wasting money getting any insurance, as, in the event of a "decent" sized claim, the insurer could, and probably would, deny your claim, so you may as well not buy at all - NOT RECOMMENDING THIS ACTION.
You say "only check ups now" are you on any medication? If so that could be treatment and not check up. I see what you copied from Fortis site says you may be charged additional premiums if you call Fortis Health Line - in this case call their customer service number and ask.
I have just called Richard at Fortis and quote "deffinately you should call with cancer/banding irellevant of 11/6 years" and also "it's best to be on the safe side" the above section you quote is only part of their med questions.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Thanks for checking this Britt. Then their website is very misleading and should be changed. It says if you can answer no to every question you do not need to contact them. I can answer no. I have no medication for my cancer and am discharged and have NO hospital appointments now. My banding is now classed as nonfunctional and I only have yearly check ups. Exactly the criteria on their website. I assume my broker would make the necessary checks. I will be contacting the Halifax for a quote first but if its too expensive I will contact a broker, and hopefully they will do the same as you and double check.0

Sorry but your wrong0 -
FHBrit is wrong (not for the first time)!
He posts in an authoritive manner, and takes umbrage when he is corrected, but we are all warned that anyone can post here, and to treat all posts with caution.
It should be remembered that he is a debt collector in america (and not an insurance expert).0 -
To answer the question about emigration, we all have dual citizenship, and this would be a holiday en route back to NZ after spending 4 years in the UK. It hadn't even occurred to me that this would make insurance difficult, quite apart from the other stuff. When we've done it before we've always gone non-stop.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

It's you're not your! Whose wrong now?
Please don't argue what you are unaware of - May I remind you that we have been here before - you work for one particular insurance ASSISTANCE company. What your client's policy is, may not be what EVERY policy from EVERY insurer is.
I am right - Halifax (for a start) is not an insurer - Great Lakes are the underwriters for Halifax. http://www.halifax.co.uk/insurance/holidayinsurance.asp
READS:
Halifax Travel Insurance
Administered by FirstAssist Insurance Services Limited and underwritten by Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC
FirstAssist, Great Lakes and Halifax may consider that PARTICULAR volcano's erruptions to be over, others do not.
For you to make a generalised statment like "your wrong" is very un-responsible, there are people reading MSE that believe everything that you, me and others write is "gospel" (thats why if you bothered to READ my post it says PROBABLY and MAY BE CONSIDERRED OVER. My suggestion is just that SUGGESTION - I leave it for people her to make THEIR own mind up given all the OPTIONS (notice that, options, = their choice).
All I will say in closing is - You find an insurance policy that will cover you for travel delay/cancellation NOW that covers the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano. You will, (as you can insurer ANYTHING, the questions are - Can you afford the Premiums? and Is it worth paying THAT much for the insurance?) find cover if you look hard enough but who wants to pay (say, for example) £10,000.00 premium for a £5,000.00 holiday?!C. KUNEKUNE - (here's my OPINION - Useless if you read Leigh-Anne & Quentin)
Citizenship is not relevant where travel insurance is concerned it is the country of residence. As you are in-between countries of residence, that is what makes it a little more "special" and you need good professional advice (or you could listen to Leigh-Anne & Quentin), as you'd need one-way and the PEMC's may need to be looked into by the insurers (medical evaluation).
The stop-over here in Orlando should not matter to the premiums.
I suggest you see a reputable broker to organize one way insurance.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)
