Hi FH BRIT:)
My husband and I are going to Orlando in Jan 2011, I have just bought insurance (last night) with LV any good?? I use to go with Nationwide (who I believe were LV anyway) I have PCOS (tell the world why dont I :rotfl:) anyway had ultra sound & bloods to confirm (5 yrs ago) but not received any treatment for it, I take it I must still put this down as pre med con anyway? Ive paid £101 for our insurance because of pre med con but its beter to be safe than sorry and £50-£60 extra is worth piece of mind, especially when I here you saying that insurers dont pay out!
Sorry for the waffling

Hi FH Brit
Having trouble getting half decent quote for PEMC - some back pain and high blood pressure. Looking at reasonable quote from getmy.com (First Assist Insurance Services Ltd). Do you have any knowledge of?
Many thanks0 -
Have just been looking at world-first.co.uk, arranged by Rothwell & Towler - any knowledge about this one?
Online screening was easy to do and resulting price very competative. Haven't looked thoroughly at policy yet.

NIXCKYS32 - I believe some Lloyds policies are Axa - my pet hate company - Although I "bad mouth" Axa, their coverage is adequate, the problems are that in the event of you making a claim they will drag their feet over processing and it will take forever to get rectified by which time you could face legal or other collection action here in Florida.
Secondly they will try to avoid paying altogether if there is a contractual clause that will allow them to (all IC's would do this but Axa seem to have more get out clauses than any other IC).
The T&C's are what you sjhould look at, if you feel that you are within the T&C and, you will stay within them, then the only problem you'll have with Axa is getting them to pay promptly.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

NICKERS - TravSure I have looked at their site - I have never come accross this company before although I have dealt with their claims service (One Claims, Hoddesdon, Herts) and have had no more problems than with any other company.
Their site seems well designed but the only reference to underwriters is with "Lloyds of London" - TravSure are not an insurer but are a Broker according to the FSA Register -

A broker is basically an insurance retailer and not the IC, they will act as a seller of multiple policies from multiple insurers, and (a repytable broker) will find you, the customer the best suitable policy to cover your needs. If KENNET ONSURANCE BROKERS are reputable or not I cannot say. But the lack of ease of finding some information on the site does raise concerns from me.
My Advice = Find an IC that you know or recognize the name & make sure you have the coverage you need = only then compare prices.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

SET - My advice is ALWAYS CALL your insurers where PEMC's are concerned - Better to be safe than sorry - and DON'T take anyone's word when they say "Oh you don't have to declare that" or similar. I have no idea what PCOS is, but most insurers are good and if your condition is not relevant, they'll tell you. You have to bear in mind with all PEMC's the insurers have to weigh up the risk that your condition may affect your travel, and the more chance, the higher the premiums.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

BIRDY - Getmy.com policies are through Great Lakes Insurance (First Assist are the Assistance company) Both of these companies are good - I deal with First Assist on a daily basis.
Great lakes have given me no problems worth commenting on in the past.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

- A member of the UK Financial Ombudsman Service for your added protection

Thanks for reply PCOS = polycystic ovary syndromeLike you said better to be safe than sorry thats why I always put it down in insurance, try not to give insurers any reason not to pay and £100 is well worth the peice of mind. Its with LV so hope they are not at the top of your 'Insurers who wont pay up and drag their heals at paying list'
Anyway off point, you live in Orlando, how fab and as I see from your previous post your commission is pretty good too but also after reading your other posts its well deserved, good for you I say!.0 -
Phew just read the whole of this thread. Some comprehensive reading here LOL, good job my baby is taking her afternoon nap!
We are a family of four just about to book Orlando holiday insurance but as its my sisters wedding want to make sure we have adequate cover. In the past suitcase has gone missing (did eventually re-surface) and also the newly built Villa my parents stayed in Orlando in 2008 got burgled and they didn't have enough cover, much to their amazement and shock (Were told by Sheriff happens a lot though we have been about 6 times and this was a first!) So do want to get it right this time just in case mine or kids bridal wear goes missing, camcorders etc!
Thank you so much FH Brit for taking the time to post such useful information in an area ie insurance that is a minefield to me and many others who are oblivious to the many pitfalls of travel insurance. So good to have someones advice who sees what happens when things do go wrong. Have also watched alarming Michael Moore documentary about insurance that has now made me very suspicious!! LOL! Thanks a lot for your posts. Do appreciate it, as I'm sure many others do on here too!0
