Thanks BB for the encouragement about the calories, yes I was starting to worry last week... and I'm still not convinced it's a 'proper' STS because every day has been so different for the last 5 days or so and it'll probably be different again tomorrow
but I'll stick with it.
Pleased to report a new Personal Best on the 5km run - 27m45s - this means I'm inside the 28 min mark and average under 9 minute mile for the first time too!I went all out for this after doing mostly longer distances lately, and it was so hard. Especially as it was very warm and muggy. Back to 'slow' 10km next time I think - it's easier! I might see how fast I can do one mile though - anyone here got a PB for one mile?
I have 200 'spare' calories for the sweetie shop today :j :j I'll use them wisely
Marion what a lovely post, all positive stuff there! Thank you for sharing your successes, and glad you had a great time in Belgium
Glad you're back from Tewkes in 1 piece KPC!0 -
STS for me this week I have given up on the 2lb leeway go in 17 days for the hols:rolleyes: can't complain, tried on bikini and I was not sick so am wearing it:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: that is if the flat owner ever returns my emails to let me know what the prices have gone up to:rolleyes:
Been invited to a very posh wedding in september, so looking forward to,ladies out there or even gents to, would you think it would be best/cheaper to hire the outfits suits for the men and something for me rather than buy and hten have it in the wardrobe or not? I can't imagine they have anything posh enough at the car boot sales I go to:rotfl: :rotfl:
I think I'm echoing what other people have said, but I think it would be better to hire outfits for the men and buy something for yourself. I once tried to hire something when I was at Uni, it would have been £55 for the night:eek: . The think was, it was on sale for £50, so I bought it instead. I guess that might have been a sales tactic though, it was a bit expensive but very nice, maybe one day I'll get back in it!
Laine Your poor son, I'm glad its getting sorted, but I imagine 15 is just about the worst age for something like that to happen.
I'm expecting a gain tomorrow, I just don't know how much yet (it was 5lbs this morning). As usual, I went off track for longer than I'd hoped, but 2 pepperamis and 2 cheesestrings was about all a disorganised me managed to get from the shop yesterday morning, that was lo carb, before a family day out - and it was never going to be enough, so ended up having chilli and chips and a piece of chocolate fudge cake. Hopefully going in the right direction again now.
I'm thinking of getting some body fat/muscle mass scales. Can anyone recommend any?£2008 in 2008 member 552 £1947 to go! (started 20/1/08) Total wins £61
Weight loss since April 2008 - 14lbs a whole stone!:j0 -
Hey all!! Not been around much this week, I've started reading tarot cards! And spent most of the week on another site/forum looking for advice about them!!
Anyway...lost 3.4 lbs this week!! :jVery pleased as I've had a rest week away from the gym (actually if I'm honest it was 2 weeks! But the first week was mainly due to shift times getting in the way) back to the gym today, now I'm back to my preferred night shifts.
I have been doing lots of walking thou, taking Shadow to parks and woods further away. Now I don't have my car, getting to the parks is part of the walkies!

thanks for all the tips on hiring/buying:D gonna' buy mine and hire theirs;)
missy,retiredlady:j :j :j :j all the STS:j :j
The lady that owns the flat has replied, she is willing to compromise with me and charge me for 5 weeks at the agreed rate not the august rate instead of for the 4 weeks I am going for bearing in mind she thought she was going to get 6 weeks rent, seems fair to me, at least there is no august hike:D0 -
Ooh, forgot to say too...I had to buy some new trousers for work, they were hanging off me! When I first bought them they were tight, and dug in when I sat down. They were a size 20! Now I'm wearing size 16! These ones dig in like my old ones did, but like my old ones it won't be long until they are hanging off me
A small victory there, victorylooks like a good compromise. She gets a little extra, and you pay cheaper than you were fearing (thou not as low as you hoped).
Maybe you can persuade your mum to foot the difference, since it was her meddling that caused the trouble?:p

Seems quiet today. Has everyone gone on holiday, except the 'I'm not going on holiday club', obviously?
I am beginning to realise that part of my inability to lose weight at the moment is due to tiredness. It's not just the children who are exhausted by the end of term. I get home from work and just reach for whatever is available and needs no preparation, fortunately there isn't much because I don't have time to go shopping. But cereal just leaps into a bowl and thence into Granny's tummy. So a gain's on the way this week I think.
Did ride my bike to and from school though. Took me all of 4 minutes each way. Whoopy doo.
(Sorry, just feel moany tonight)

You just sound tired granny, not moany. I live with a teacher and I see how tired she gets by the end of each term, let alone the school academic year. Just a little longer to go and you get a proper break and reassess your eating then. You are still 2 st lighter than this time last year I think:T :T .(What happened to retired Mr granny doing more cooking?). Well done on the cycling, be it only 4 mins. Every bit counts.
Managed a swim to day myself and I've just lived through an amazing mountain stage of the tour de france and I'm sure that counts for something.
Any sw'er who make the carrot cake using scan bran? For info in the interests of economy I have stopped buying that and substituted 50g of plain old bran instead -tastes as good (16 syns per cake), which works out at 6p of bran per cake rather than 40-50p of scan bran:j .
Just had a fab dinner with a HM thai green curry sauce (highly adapted to ingredient I had in the house and using HM yog(v low fat) instead of (lots of fat) coconut milk). It was sooo delicious that's definitely becoming a staple.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
YoungBean I hope it wasn't my post that made you feel like 6 hours wasn't a lot of exercise. I don't always do as much as I'm doing at the moment. 6 hours is a really excellent amount for someone trying to lose a bit of weight
I have body analyser scales Lemon Drop. I won't recommend mine as I'm not totally sure about themOther people on here seem to have much bigger % changes in their fat/muscle from week to week whereas mine are almost always teeny tiny changes. It could be accurate and just the way I am, I don't know! :rotfl:
Raph nice loss! Who needs the gym, eh?No way were you a size 20?!!!
How many school days left to go Granny? Do you have any plans for the summer? I agree it is very quiet on here lately compared to a couple of weeks ago.
Hope you enjoyed the Tourmalet, BB! [Edit: I see you did! You posted while I was still composing my message!]0 -
Granny~Its great to see you & sorry you feel so tired.
