    Hi all

I lost 1lb this week, so I've got 2lbs to lose by next Wednesday to achieve the monthly target, which I'm really determined to do. I've been doing more exercise, which I intend to continue, so hopefully that will kick in and have the desired effect.

Hi Window shopper - we're at about the same stage in our SW progress, well done so far. How much do you want to lose altogether? :)

Purplecatlover - well done, you're currently neck and neck with Gerturdeanna for SOTW :D Can't help with the gammon, I always roast it.

    Catch you all later.

  • Hi all
Well, er, gulp here goes. Am new to this forum and not really sure what to expect but you all seem like a nice lot so...........
Always starting diets and giving it everything I have and have a really good first week and then, yep all goes to pot. Doesn't help that I have 3 children and 2 step children and am always having to cook several different meals as they all don't like this or that the the other one wants. Drown my sorrows with rather too much of the old vino and hoover up the kids left overs and have my meal later at night too.
Crux of it I had to run for a train last week accross town and I thought I was going to die. Had this awful cough after that lasted for an hour on and off and chest felt wheezy. Don't smoke either. Was really scary.
Can't afford to go to a diet club so was wondering if you'd all be kind enough to help me out with tips etc. Need to lose about 6 (OMG) stone.

    All help/encouragement gratefully accepted.

  • Hi Swadey

Welcome, it is good fun on here.

My suggestions would be, eat regularly and don't pick/eat left overs, don't leave it more than 3 hours between meals/snacks and plan ahead - if it's not in your plan don't eat it.

07.00 Breakfast - cereal like porridge - not cornflakes, rice krispies etc
10.00 Snack - piece of fruit
12.00 Lunch - tin of Heinz Big Soup + slice of toast/bread
15.00 Snack - piece of fruit
18.00 Dinner - eat with the children - put their leftovers in the bin ( you are not the bin) - something like lean meat or fish, with small carb portion, plus lots of vegetables (frozen is convenient)
    21.00 Snack - yoghurt

Try not to have the wine as it lowers willpower.

Watch out for portion sizes too.

No doubt there will be lots of suggestions, but that is roughly how I lost my weight and how I keep it off.

    Good luck

    FFM :)

  • Hi swadey1, welcome to the thread.

You'll find there's a few of us who have a lot of weight to lose. If you can't afford a club, can I recommed you check out some of the sites linked on the first post of this thread - usually calorie counting etc.

Did you have a specific plan in mind? Sometimes if you just go it alone and cut down on your portion sizes and swap the rubbish for healthy food you may find that this will be enough to get you going for starters.?

Have you tried going to your GP for help? Sometimes you can get a subscription to a gym for a reduced price or see a nurse/dietitican for a weigh in.

The main thing is, once you get started to keep posting on here, especially if you fall off the wagon. We'll help haul you back on again.

Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
  • Not doing so well myself at the minute. Just hoovered up a load of cadbury's shortcake biscuits and had an apple pastry earlier on today too.

Having said that, I did about an hour and a half's hard physical work yesterday and today - yesterday was cutting the grass and clearing up. Today was trying to clear weeds and moss off the driveway of the house and brushing it all up, also power hosing the paths around the house too. Felt that it would do me more good than a 5 mile walk cos it meant I achieved something around the house too. It's a pity DS didn't agree- he kept demanding my attention. Here's hoping it will all balance out.

    Thanks Delly
Actually it was reading a post a post from you on another thread that got me started on this thread was intrigued with the 'member of weight loss' bit underneath had a look at a couple of your other posts to trace this thread and here I am.
Going to clear out the cupboards in the morning and get started.
Just dug out my stepper from the loft. Not been used for 2 years and is all squeaky and the battery from the display had run out lol.
Do have a gym membership and in a not very moneysaving way have been paying 29.99 a month for it and not going as I feel too fat and selfconsious. Perhaps if I could cancel this it would pay for my slimming club? Will check it out in the morning.

  • Hi all, well done all the losers:T. Well I went to the docs today, she was really lovely, and though there are no gym/RC subsidies in my area I'm going to be weighed by the practice nurse monthly. Should be very motivating--imagine gaining or STS in front of the nurse:eek:. Does mean I can't do RC salsa--would have to give up my fab value (£25) gym/pool membership to afford it. No contest since I love swimming, and lots of classes I've yet to try are included.

Hi swadey, welcome from me too :hello: Heehee--just seen you're thinking the opposite to me with gym/classes. I would second delly with the Dr's, took me ages to build up the courage to go but Dr was lovely. I've got about 4 stone to lose, but seems more cos I'm kinda short:confused:

Hi Delly, well done on the physical work hun, you're doing fab, a few biscuits isn't such a big deal after all that.
