Hi Windowshopper and welcome to the thread.I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -
Victory, my methods might not help you much as I think we have quite different patterns. My problem was never binging, it was falling into bad eating habits and getting lazy, so I needed to reprogramme myself into better habits! I have no problem including goodies within my daily cals sometimes or allowing myself an occasional bigger treat when I want it enough AND deserve it - this feels normal for me and we have stuff available in the house all the time.
What I'm wondering is, as you have maintained so well for such a long time now and seem to do fine 95%+ of the time, is whether you could accept the occasional 'binge/bootcamp' (or a slightly less extreme version) as a normal part of your maintaining? Or do you feel you must be on an even keel 365 days a year?
If only life were that easy:D binging is not a time/date/how much it is just open and eat and not stop for any reason whatsoever, whether it is for a birthday, special occasion, it just comes on for nothing, for no reason, whenever and for whatever:rolleyes: it has to be heavily monitored in the maintaining land but even so still sometimes it just cannot be helped and common sense is not in it:rolleyes: not necessary to be on an even keel 365 days a year because I think that would be impossible with the way life is, going to the wedding this weekend,ds birthday last sunday, that kind of thing but treats and special days are different to binging.0 -
I wanted to ask you what you do on the wii fit for 60 mins every day? Jogging? Stepping? Boxing?
Early days yet - this is only day 2 of the 60 mins per dayYesterday and today I did 30 mins on the muscle exercises before lunch, and 30 mins doing a mixture of the various jogging trails in the afternoon. For the next 5 days I plan to do 30 mins jogging (either Free or a mixture of the trails) and another 30 min session of whatever I feel like other than jogging!
After my op I started with 30 mins of Balance Games and Free Step because they were easy, went up to 45 mins introducing a bit of Jogging gradually, and the rest was/is a mixture of whatever doesn't pull at my op scar!
Prior to my op I was only doing about an hour a week, as I was doing so much other exerciseAs I get better, I'll be replacing these wii sessions with other things hopefully. I love it though - and it seems to be keeping things ticking over nicely while my other exercise options are limited. How are you getting on?
Would love some other wii fitters to talk to in the wii fit thread in the Arms, if anyone feels like it!0 -
FFM Thank you for the :j about my loss!
:D Same to you - 50lb lost must be half your current body weight (ish)? Where are you now compared to 6 months ago and 12 months ago? I looked up mine and I'm 0.75lb lighter than 6 months ago, and 14lb lighter than 12 months ago (didn't reach target till Christmas last year).
Spring 06 I had my first light bulb moment and lost my first stone (11.03 - 10.03) , until the summer holiday when the light went off - fortunately the weight stayed off but I was still 2 stone overweight.
Spring 07 I started my new job and the light bulb came back on. I needed to change my appearance as well as the job. The light bulb came on even brighter when I turned up at a parents evening and met one of my 'new' colleagues looking smart and slim in her leisure clothes - I was there still in my work clothes looking/feeling well frumpy - I had nothing nice to wear.
Christmas 07 last year (same as you) I'd reached my target - although I have continued losing and have lost another 1/2 stone. New Year 08 was my first promotion in the new job.
I often have meetings with the colleague I met at DD's school (she's in a different department) and she has even commented on how I had kept my figure - we first worked at the same company in the early 1990's. I did confide in her that she had been part of my motivation to lose weight - she hadn't even noticed that I had been overweight (or is that something people say to be polite?)
6 months ago I was 3.6lb heavier and 12 months ago 28lb heavier. I have been 1lb lighter than my last weigh in, but as you know I am not trying to lose anymore weight - I just want to keep it off. Although with a BBQ tomorrow and an evening dinner on Friday, this week's WI might be a different story - but I will just go and enjoy myself, eat what I want and then sort it if necessary - although at the moment I'm fairly well programmed to ask myself "Do I really want that?" it even works with pork pies which I love - but they are just a lump of fat - so the answer to my question is "NO".

I think if someone could come up with a clear answer to why we binge/eat things we don't need and don't REALLY want they would instantly make a fortune.
Vix doesn't seem to be around today. I wonder if she's doing her dissertation? Maybe my bossy instructions worked.
I will be away on Thursday 30th Oct, as it's half term in grannyland, but I don't think you'll find a day that suits everyone so please don't worry about it KPC. I could always open mine early (she says hopefully) and I'll read my recipient's response when I get back.0 -
