Sammy, iron-rich foods include all types of meat and fish, and also eggs, and leafy vegetables such as spinach and cabbage. Also, your body finds it much easier to absorb iron if you eat Vit C-rich foods in the same meal - i.e. fruit and veg such as broccoli, tomatoes. You can also buy iron supplements (although not very OS!)

Good morning folks I have just been reading through some of the posts and am finding them very useful. My eldest DD and family went of to Florida for three weeks on Thursday and she said when you pop up to move the post take everything thats in the fridge I did and so far have
a full pack of tomatoes
an almost full pack of sausage rolls
A cucumber
three yogurts
four chocolate desert- type things that my granddaughter normally eats
half a pack of sliced turkey
a pack of sliced chicken
three pints of semi skimmed milk
an almost complete white loaf
I have been using up all the left overs with salads, the milk I made into puddings
the bread I have divided into three and put into the freezer for toast later in the week.
Nothing has been wasted at all and I have only bought 6 eggs and a lettuce this week.I too shall be off on my holiday in two weeks time but there will be almost nothing in my fridge to throw away.I am far too frugal/canny to put food into the dustbin .
keep up the good work folks it's great to think that we are all doing our bit to not waste food It's like being back to my childhood in the late 1940s-50s again0 -

Morning helpful people!
I have a question and I'm sure one of you will be able to help me. A couple of weeks ago my OH and I made our own pizza dough. There was lots left over so we froze it in portions.
Now, I've taken some out of the freezer, and what I want to know is, can I use it for anything else but pizza? i.e. is it just the same as bread or will it only be good for pizza?
We're moving house next weekend and i'm not sure we can eat 6 pizzas before then....!
Thanks in advance,
BB

we have made somethign called a pizza ball before. You put yoru dough out in a circle in small sizes obviously , put what toppign you want in a lump in the middle. Then fold the edges up (dont add too much sauce!) and then gentle roll it until it has formed a ball shape. Then bung in the oven and leave it to cook for abotu 10 minutes or until its cooked but still soft if you know what i mean (not crispy) then serve on a plate with salad - they can be hand held and are like havign pizza in a roll!. num num numTime to find me again0 -
Believe me - the number of Buddhist meditation meetings in different houses I have been to - I've tried my way through most of them....but you might like lemon and ginger teabags, with a slice of fresh lemon squeezed into them.
have you tried redbush or rooiboos tea? its naturally decaffinated and you can have milk in it as you would ordinary tea. I drink it in the evenings and my dh drinks it all the time in place of ordinary tea now. my favourite brand is Tick Tock, there are others but i've found htis to be the best!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Thank 'ee for that ISOM - visions of bathtub overflowing down into the room below perchance? When you say DIY emergency - thats what came to mind......Hope (whatever it is) that it gets sorted soon (and hopefully cost covered by insurance?).
Whats that phrase again "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans" (wasnt that John Lennon or summat?) - but its one I can often relate to myself:cool:
