    Hi weezl

ps slightly of topic _ i have been collecting recipes forever and what to put together a family cookbook to pass on to my kids when they leave home i dont just want to print off and put in a folder i want to make it like a proper book can anyone recommend how or a free software program i could download ??

    Shaz,

don't know if this was answered further up the the OSD thread (I've got to page 31 so far). I use a desk top publisher called Serif PagePlus, it isn't free, but would certainly do what you want for a cookbook (and what a lovely idea - I might steal that one).

I set a recipe book for the village I lived in at the time over the Millennium and it worked really well for that. I also use it for greetings cards and all sorts of other things - I'm not on commission BTW!

If you didn't want to spend anything, and if you have Word, you could probably use that. Or there are freeware sites around, never dared use one myself, too scared of virus' etc

Thinking I may get a little box of decaf teabags to keep in my handbag so if i do go to her house we can have a cuppa together, because the only juice she has is summer fruits which contains Cherry so i cant drink it. Supposably caffeine is a diuretic too but I have no idea (makes you retain water incase someone doesnt know) so cant be bad, may help the diet if nothing else.

    Anyway.......5 days caffeine free.

Anyone have any ideas on nice drinks i can have too?? Im not keen on these fruity tea bags you can get despite making my nan a hamper full of them last year for her christmas present as she is allergic to somethign in regular tea bags. Im getting a bit fed up of plain water (dont mind evian) but our tap water tastes c**p and milk.[/quote]

In a lot of areas the tapwater does taste c**p as you put it - but sometimes it can be redeemed by putting some of it into a bottle and leaving it in the fridge to chill for a few hours - worth a try. A person from the local water firm I am with suggested doing this too - as it deals with the awful taste of chlorine in a lot of water supplies. Give it a go.

Other drinks.....hmmm....well...I still havent gotten round to trying out vegetable stock in hot water...really must give it a go...you might like it. Bovril....a lot of people like that I gather (not for me as a veggie - but you might like it). I hate most herbal teabags (damn it!!!! ). Believe me - the number of Buddhist meditation meetings in different houses I have been to - I've tried my way through most of them....but you might like lemon and ginger teabags, with a slice of fresh lemon squeezed into them.

re the yog I caved & went to a shop that sold the easyyo packs because my hm (1 litre mlk, 2 tblsp milk powd & yog) was quite slimey...to much milk powd perhaps? mind you the reduced powd was 50p so better than hm in cost as i use organic milk!
re the pate I would think you can tell by smell whether its ok...if its off sure you'll know it. Someone asked about blenders & mr t has a metal hand one with mini blender & jug for 12 which is good value...hth. Hi Sammy Kaye

I was going to suggest 10 calorie soups about 40p per pack of 10 ( from memory) from morrisons - but I did a search and at the bottom of the link it suggests some other ways to make soupy / brothy type drinks

I really didn't do very well on the no-caffeine thing today. I tried, but getting to sleep at 2:30am (heat!) and waking up at 6:30am meant either have some coke or fall asleep at my desk. And as I sit opposite my boss...

    Hi

I love my coffee, so amn't too impressed with fruity teas either

What I did find which I love is Redbush tea - its got a strong smoky taste which for caffeine addicts is maybe a bit more satisfying than fruity water.

Quite a lot of different makes of it are available now, though its dearer than normal tea so maybe not very moneysaving, but may hit the spot?

Oh - and the No knead bread worked a treat last night Weezl, so guess I can freecycle my breadmaker!!
